Request: Playback via primary sound driver

Hello. Sorry if this has been already asked for but search returned nothing relevant.

I have an external USB sound card that I connect to my notebook when listening to music. However I do not take it with me e.g. to work. SO when I start Foobar and the card is not plugged in, there is no playback untill I set the output device to the on-board card of my notebook. Would it be possible to add a feature to automatically switch to the primary sound driver when the chosen card is not found? I have seen this behavior in Media Player Classic and considered it a good idea. Thanks in advance.
