MP2 recorded from DVB-S , Satellite !

for a lot of people this topic might be an old hat,
though as I haven#t seen discussions lately about these topics, I summarize some basics:

You can stream by by PCI Sat cards or by USB boxes (even usb 1.1 is sufficient) the DVB-S streams on your HD.

If you record radio, you get directly mp2 streams.
Often the bitrate is 192k stereo or joint stereo, sometimes higher like 224 or 256.
Though the frequency cut starts at 15 kHz (for 192k), most people will tell, that CD is playing, not radio from FM or cable/FM-radio.
Some tv stations broadcast even with 5.1 ac3 !

Sound quality, especially for classic or jazzy radio stations, is convincing. pop radios have often loudness compression...

But now you got mp2 files on your HD. play them by foobar (eg. 0.8.3), and you get a lot of pops and crackles, and sync warnings.
You need to let run the demux feature of PVAStrumento gui, current PVAStrumento 21015h , over it, that fixes the sat stream to compliancy.
Though, you don't have video you could demux, but never mind, it does the job.

same step, if you really wanna have tv recorded with video and sound, PVAStrumento demux option.

Check, that it is NOT checked for mpeg2 PS system header (see the expert tab)
All other options should be left at default.
My test with the "beautify mp2" option had following result: with or without beautify mp2, the output of the corrected mp2 was bit identical and both played fine by foobar.
(remember, the original recorded stream does not play fine.)

You could select the extension of the output files, video should be m2v instead of mpv for easier recognizing of the streams of other programs,
and the mp2 audio should be mpa for video production, but if you wanna have the plain radio or mp2, you could rename later, or select mp2 in the tab.

So, besides the necessary check of mpeg2 system header in expert tab, nothing should go wrong.

if you went for the radio or pure audio, you are finished here.

let's describe shortly 1 successful way, to get DVD-Video compliant stuff:

1. You demuxed video & audio as described above by PVAStrumento gui.

2. Cuttermaran 1.66 :
Cut the video/audio streams & join different together, set chapters.

either 3.1 very simple dvd: IFOedit
press the Author DVD tab, and you can select video n audio, the txt file with the chapter positions created by Cuttermaran.

or : 3.2 dvdauthor gui , simple gui to create eg. menus, but good results with menus !

Drag the file.mpv to the main menu window of the dvdauthor gui, and a tab opens, where the audio streams are shown, you can even add several audio streams.
If you close that tab, you see the main menu, where you could edit names etc.
press create DVD, and audio n video are muxed, dvd created, and you are finished.
There is a long HowTo for dvdauthor gui in web, also for ifoedit.
here's a link for the Germans:
http://www.audioworld.de/downl_dvb.html

This german guy made even an English guide:
http://www.audioworld.de/DVB_to_DVD_guide.pdf

http://www.audioworld.de/4%20sec%20black%20leader.zip
But the English guide might not be fully uptodate.
He has no guide for dvdauthor gui, but you find that guide, where you can dl dvdauthor gui at homepage.

My knowledge is derived primarily from his guide, but played a little bit more, eg. with dvdauthor.
Especially, if you really wanna burn several different shorter or longer video tracks on 1 DVD, selectable with menu or at least convenient access, then go with dvdauthor gui, not with ifoedit, like he described.
