This is awesome news, i've been using foobar2000 for almost 4 years and it's still my all time favorite music player.

It feels strange with the version number being greater than 1.0.

This version doesnt work with Creative Alchemy. I test in Win7 64bit ver Prof ENG. When I turn off support in Alchemy control panel, everything is ok, when support is on I have error:
"Unrecoverable playback error: Unsupported stream format (0x88780064)"

Just out of curiosity: Does it have any reason that this beta is called 1.0 and not 1.0.0?

Is it safe to install the 1.0 beta over the current 0.9.6.9?

Well, it's probably just good sense to back your install folder up before doing anything to it. However, I didn't have any problems at all installing overtop of my old 9.6.9 install.

Reworked Preferences: OK/Cancel/Apply buttons, new layout of standard pages.

Just a minor thing on this, I dont think "reset all" button should be on every preferences page. It it should exist only in advanced or say componets page IMO.

This is looking great, already finding these new features useful.

Does anyone know how to set a default image when there's no album art present? Seems the legacy option has finally been removed, but I'm not sure how you set it using the new art options.

Preferences > Display, there is "Stub image path" for every image type at the bottom.

All, I remembered one more small but nice feature not mentioned here yet.
Standard Copy command and Ctrl+C now add formatted track title to the clipboard as an alternate format, so there is no need to use Copy Name(s) explicitely (except for some cases when the target program has problem with multiple-format clipboards etc.).
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

Why the CTRL+F not work on Playlist Manager like it was?

After changing playlists (quite frequent recently), the focus is on the Playlist Manager. Later I wanna do a search and then can't use CTRL-F. I need to switch focus back to playlist before I can search.

Thank you, Peter.

Thank you, so much.

I love this software so much, it is the first thing I install when reformatting a computer, before Firefox!

I loved it beyond reason a couple of weeks back when it helped me backup my iPod's music just the way I wanted to, with minimal messing of the out-of-the-box settings.

I loved it since day one, when a lot of people thought it looked like the illegitimate child of WinAmp and Notepad.

I loved it since it started playing my beloved MP3s gaplessly, back in 2003.

I loved it when it became portable.

And I'll love it until I die, I'm sure.

foobar lovers don't die (also a new feature since v1.0 beta 1 which has not mentioned till yet), as well as foobar2000 itself  .

I beg your pardon, but I couldn't resist...

First off, congrats to the dev team for reaching 1.0!

I'm not too happy with some of the changes made, but I do like the other additions.

One thing I gotta ask though is that the option to add a keyboard shortcut for Properties (properties tab) no longer exists, so will it be added again in the future? I prefer just pressing a simple keyboard shortcut rather than shift-clicking on the context menu item...

I would also appreciate that very much!

If I delete the Properties' default keyboard shortcut and then assign a new one or even the same to it foobar then opens the Properties tab directly, but there is no possibility to add a shortcut to the metadata tab anymore (sorry for my English).

I just noticed you can change Default UI color/font preferences while using Columns UI now. Awesome! Why is this awesome? Because the album list and playlist/library search windows also use these settings, and it was really cumbersome to alter these before if you were using another UI.

(I, er, do hope this is a feature and not a bug  )

In any event, I'm quite impressed by the new beta. I quite like the refinements I've seen so far, aside from the (yes, yes, I know) reduced customizability of the context menu, which is akin to my favorite restaurant not serving iced tea any more; a little irksome, certainly, but hardly a deal-breaker.

Seriously, excellent work on this release.

(Now, if only queuing up something from a playlist other than the one playing wouldn't switch control to that playlist...)

The handling of component configuration changed in 1.0 beta 1, so if you installed it over 0.9.x it would convert the old settings to the new format, and you won't be able to convert them back. So, I'd advise you to backup your settings first (%APPDATA%\Roaming\foobar2000), and then install. Also, it could happen that certain components won't load with 1.0 beta 1, because they might be blacklisted for stability issues.
It's only audiophile if it's inconvenient.

I also miss being able to double-click in the Properties tab to bring up the Properties window. Can this function be re-added through Keyboard shortcuts? (I haven't played around with that much, so I don't know what is possible.)

Back to cover displaying bug that i posted here: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....st&p=668876
Update:I hav more files in a folder with folder.jpg in the folder. all files have embedded covers. the embedded covers normally should be displayed, not the folder.jpg.
The Problem: embedded cover is not displayed for files where embedded cover size is smaller than arround ~70kb, instead of this folder.jpg is displayed.

The larger (file size, not image size) cover art is used. That's for cases when there is ugly small embedded image and better quality one as a separate file.

This was changed due to the fact that some users often had larger, high-res folder.jpg that they wanted fb2k to display and also had smaller embedded cover art for their portables.
I can't find the thread right now but some searching should procure the thread.

Anyways, unless you have some particularly good reason you folders are a mess, that reason trumps you.

in 0.9.x everything worked fine.

this is wrong....
covers where embedded by me and are high quality 500x500 files scaled down from 1500x1500 and saved at q95 jpg.

wishlist: possibility to set embedded cover priority via album art lists.

I only use external files, but I'd have to say the logic stated by Yirkha makes perfect sense to me.  With that in mind I'd say that it is your set-up that is "wrong".  I guess your external files must be larger and worse quality?  In which case, why have them?

I keep Folder.jpg in case of files that don't have embedded covers. And is useful for other programs that don't read embedded covers, and when i'm browsing folders with explorer in thumbnail mode.

P.S.: I only use embedded covers for "Singles Collection", for other albums i use Folder.jpg.

You guys if you handle the problem than embedded cover support should be removed (to reduce executable size), what do you say....

The new priority system introduced in 1.0 is for newbies....this is the first thing that i don't like in foobar2000 for years.
