Like the 70s video disk

They all make it sound so mystical and sci-fi like. While the mechanics of a regular mechanical hard disk blow all that out of the water - and let's not even start about the rather fascinating structures of run-off-the-mill MEMS devices...

If you could make a regular mechanical hard drive into some sort of analog audio storage, it'd technically be one of the best and high quality analog formats available. I'm not sure it'd be feasible like that, but from a pure physics and electronics standpoint, it'd be probably the best analog format ever.

I'll never understand how blissfully ignorant those types are, to simple standard connectors and cables used in science and research. bandpasses of several GHz, some of them able to carry hundreds of Amps.
Yet instead of getting Lemo-Connectors for their Hi-Fi, they rather go down to some snakeoil salesman and buy cheap Chinese shit up-marketed to oblivion and labeled with all sorts of crap.
They'll never understand; and frankly, I'll never understand them either…

MPC / Re: MusePack support on Android (foobar2000)

I did just verify that Foobar2000 mobile will not accept files that it ordinarily handles if they have the wrong extension (unlike most Linux software that doesn't seem to know what extensions are)

Honestly, that's kinda bad.

Extensions are an unreliable method of determining file formats, as you very clearly demonstrate yourself - all it takes to break it is a simple manual file rename. POSIX-oriented operating systems (Android included) instead rely on magic numbers for determining file formats.

It's a weird decision by Foobar2000 mobile devs to override this and make their app dumber in the process.

Who really cares about UI hacks? Hiding the title bar is nothing.

I do care and many others too :P. Not only is it for hiding the title bar, but it has also features like window size manipulation, minimum size, drop shadow, etc.

A far more important dependency for themes like Eole/Catrox/etc is Panel Stack Splitter which will never be updated. I suspect a good chunk of people will stick with 32 bit for that (and many other components that won't be updated).

You're right about that, forgot they're using the pss, also Lyrics Show Panel 3 ( hope Openlyrics will get a 64bit ver ) and your and Mordred's enhanced playcount and many other essential components will get into trouble.
Nevertheless there will be exciting times when foobar2000 v2 x64 will be released, let see if new components will arise...

What do you mean by "first"?

Are you talking about the Album Art Viewer in the DUI?

In File > Preferences > Advanced > Display > Album Art there are options to prefer embedded art (as tags in the music file) or "external" (which I take to mean image files in the album folder - I don't use it).  In File > Preferences > Display > Album Art there are controls to define the folder path and what the search strings should be and in what order.

If by "first" you mean "oldest", or "first alphabetically", then I doubt anything can be done except to write some Javascript.

Yep, that would exactly be the reason not to switch to 64bit. Pss and ELplaylist would be the reasons for me to stick to 32bit.
