How to create Audible files?

Hi all
I have a Sansa player which is great except that there is no bookmarking feature for mp3, making it a pain when using it for my mp3 audio books.

The player supports audible format which has a 'return to state' feature that is as good as a bookmark for my needs.

Can anybody point me in the direction of how to convert to Audible format. I've played around with dbPowerAmp using WMA-ACELP.net with not much luck, the player sees the file but power-cycles when it is played.

Any pointers or suggestons?
Thanks
