I just not sure how anyone could have a all-time favorite song
Things change as the years go by. Musical tastes change

Unless they don't listen to much music, or stopped listening to any new music past their 20's

Maybe a favorite song at this moment in time.
Which would be Sam Lee - Lay This Body Down
But who knows what song next week?

But on a side note, as a Irish person, I do like your choice, as seeing where David McWilliams was from.

My tastes haven't changed much. In fact not at all.

Here two others from that same Austin Powers era who produced the best pop, kind of baroque, songs.

The number before the track indicates how many times I've listened to it.

But "all time favorite" doesn't mean you listen to it over and over.

I don't know one single track of your list  :D

This is exactly what it means for me. If there's something "greatest" and you've listened to it once I really really doubt you could call it the greatest. Music must stick. It must play in your head long after you've stopped listening to it. If it doesn't stick, it's nothing but the background noise which is what it is for most people out there who listen what's streaming/popular. If you've not heard any of the ~5500 tracks in the list I've provided, well, I'm not sure you're even listening to contemporary music ;-) BTW you yourself have provided at the very least four tracks here - so which one is your favourite?

This was a personal question. I never intended to say those tracks were 1) the greatest 2) the greatest for everyone else 3) the greatest even for me since it's a snapshot of the past two years. If not for my condition I'd probably go for something major instead. The ones on the list are probably all minor.

If you've got a sense of hubris about my musical tastes and how assess what other people listen to that's because I certainly have some but it's well grounded. I was raised listening to Mozart, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Schubert and other world-renowned classical composers, so I have a strong feeling my musical tastes are quite above the average. I love the melody, exquisite vocals, arrangement - I loathe when artists scream/shout in the mic (a large chunk of modern pop music), when there's too much drums, etc. etc. etc. To be honest I'm appalled at modern [pop] music. E.g. even in the 80,90, and 00s there were a ton of talented popular singers/bands and the 10s/20s is when it all went to sh*t. Calvin Harris anyone? Absolute unmitigated cr*p.

Boys bands from 90s and 00s? Sublime music!

Later on? Crap again.

Definitively the first one: David Mc Williams - The Days of Pearly Spencer.
But I must play it once a year  :D

A favorite song that I can play over and over is Echoes by Pink Floyd.
But it's not properly a "pop song" format.

Never tired of it

No. There (was) so much crap in that genre. People like Xenakis, Boulez & co gave "contemporary music" a bad reputation.

I have this one.

But I cant  :-[

A french one from 1966. Once again all repose on the arrangements.
