Does replaygain applied to AAC permanently change audio data?

Pretty straightforward question from the title. My AAC files seem to permanently have that one second of extra volume before normalizing themselves, even if I turn off replaygain implementation in playback. Has my audio been permanently altered? Any way I can play my music without replaygain?

No, if you have just had ReplayGain enabled your files aren't permanently altered. And ReplayGain doesn't alter just part of a track. Tt affects the entire album or the entire track (depending on settings). From your description it sounds like you have some volume altering DSP enabled.
