Title: [TOS#8 / trolling] Re: Seeking advice on new active speakers
Post by: punkrockdude on 2021-04-19 08:41:48
From my experience with their monitors I would not buy them. When I recorded a band ten years ago in a small studio that had Behringer's then top monitors we thought that everything sounded so good but when we took the recordings and listen to them on other systems the sound was dull and far from as good as we thought they were.

A poor workman blames his tools.
Nothing physical reality wrong with 2031s, they've been around forever.

So that is how we are doing this? Nice.

I've seen few reviews and spoke with few people who has these, and yes, they are not Genelec but Genelec knockoff, but they are very close to each other in terms of audio quality. There is nothing like lack of bass on these that would suggest that you can't do mastering with them. You can.
How they're set up in that studio, are they configured properly, that's something else. Also, why there weren't other systems to listen the master? It's not really speaker's fault.
(no, I don't have Behringer, but I do have Genelec)

This is clearly breach of TOS #8. Hear saying and opinions based on what others have said is out of the question here. Also ajinfla's posts with graphs are not according to TOS #8. "[...]Graphs, non-blind listening tests, waveform difference comparisons, and so on, are not acceptable means of providing support.". All I did was to say that a mix didn't translate well to the speakers I listened to afterwards which didn't say that Behringer was to blame. The guys hear that usually throw around TOS #8 should not do so too often since they themselves do not following the rule well.

ajinfla's posts with graphs do not accomodate TOS #8. "[...]Graphs, non-blind listening tests, waveform difference comparisons, and so on, are not acceptable means of providing support.".

What I said was that a mix didn't translate well to the speakers I listened to afterwards which didn't say that Behringer was to blame. Members that are known to throw out warnings about TOS #8 should take it easy since som of them do not following the rule themselves.

ajinfla: Graphs do not give the whole picture of how something sounds. Just like we are not allowed to claim that something sounds better because of nice looking spectrograms that look like they are better than something else.

Just listen them and compare them with Genelics or some other speaker of higher quality.

Everything in that comment is based on anecdotes and is a TOS violation.

The ones posted show a quiet linear, neutral speaker, especially for the money. More important, fully adjustable to produce neutral high frequencies. Anyone whose mix on them sounds sounds "dull" on any other neutral loudspeaker, is simply incompetent.
Not uncommon among studiophiles. The Circle of Confusion.
You are clearly a person that few would like to be around.

Wait wait! The two of you assume a lot of things from one claim. Who said that we did not "fix" the sound later on? Who said what we listened to a final mix? Who said that the person recording didn't learn the sound of the speaker as the process went on?

Chill is what I think you two should do considering you painting a whole fictional story about incompetence etc.

P.S. Just because a speaker or microphone has a linear frequency response doesn't mean that the sound is comfortable to listen to and that can affect sound sculpturing decisions.

I do not listen to wannabe authoritarians  who have issues being questioned. Why not hang out with your cat instead or gather your circle jerk mates.

So you have no evidence.
We knew. Yes, the feeblest of minds will believe the baseless nonsense you posited.
But the fact is smooth/neutral FR is directly and strongly correlated to neutral, preferred sound.
No evidence otherwise.
