Whence the Aliencat?

I'm a great devotee of Foobar.

Looking at my computer, you see Foobar's Aliencats everywhere.

But I've always wondered how the heck such an excellent program, with its aesthetically elegant and simple gui, happened to have what looks like a gamer's logo.

Can anybody tell me about this?  I really know nothing of Foobar's development or history, so I'd enjoy hearing pretty much anything you could tell me.  Maybe there's a link that'll let me read it for myself?

Thanks,

Andy

IMO, the bigger question is whether the alien cat is supposed to have a frown-mouth () or if those are whiskers.

If you really ever looked at a cat, (i have millions lol, in my yard) you can see the frown is a upside down V, and looks like the inside part of the cats mouth.

Thats a strange thing, I guess Peter (or picmixer) likes cats and thats why its in logo
I dont see any corelation between cats and music tho, but there is still a cat in napster logo...

“There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.” –Albert Schweitzer
found this on musicandcats.com lol
So it has to be something...

It's the third revision of the foobar2000 logo.

First was ":B"

Then was "^_^"

Now we get the aliencat, which was designed by picmixer. I think that it fits very well with foobar2000's design aesthetic. Simple, unique, versatile, and it even fits much of the foobar2000 community subculture, which quite enjoys cats. Peter's an alien too, so it even works there.

Thanks, everybody, for the info.  A small thing, I know, but I really felt odd not know what the AlineCan was doing all over my computer!

I have a feeling you're going to think I should already know this, but , . . .

Who is friend of cats, this alien named Peter, the picmixer?  If he got to do the foobar2000 logo, then I'm guessing he's, . . . ummmm, . . . Mr. foobar, himself, . . . maybe?

You haven't noticed all the cat avatars here on Hydrogenaudio, star.aether? A lot of us like cats! I don't know how or why it works that way, but we all seem to.
