Other Lossy Codecs / Re: TSAC: Very Low Bitrate Audio Compression

@fab7 ...what about a Gcolab-notebook to perform compression tests ?

EDIT:
What about a NN-based audio codecs blind comparison ?
I've collected some here.

Just wanted to say thank you for compiling this.

I'm really excited about the potential of NN based audio encoders. I think concerns about power consumption will be less of a problem as upcoming CPUs and SoCs will have neural acceleration built in (if they haven't already).

My guess is that over time there will be a number of standard weights (hopefully static and reproducible) that are bundled with various encoders, perhaps as part of the operating system itself or in the formats specification.

It looks like g729 with possible only minor modifications. I think asterisk project on github have support for encoding it, if you do minor modifications to asterisk code... (by looking at ffmpeg decoder)

Yeah, so utterly important that you want it only if you can have it for $0 (not counting the efforts of others).
ARE YOU EVEN WILLING TO PAY YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY?!?!!

To the matter, it seems to have been created by Sipro, and Sipro seems to have been acquired by Voiceage, and Voiceage seems not to have offered it when they started touting their ACELPs, and you can go back on the Wayback Machine and look further. Maybe if you ask them - in a less spammish way, can I suggest? - to have a .kelvin encoder to satifsy your personal curiosity, you might have better chances than just howling out repeatedly that someone else shall fix it for you.

One of the biggest reasons for me to make the XAudio2 output component was to use a Microsoft-recommended API and get the automatic spatial surround virtualization working that some people on these forums have been wanting.

Here's the relevant documentation about it being supported in XAudio2: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/xaudio2/xaudio2-redistributable#spatial-sound-in-newer-versions-of-windows-10.
The component uses category AudioCategory_Media as it doesn't want to opt-out.
I have been using the XAudio2 output component since its creation but I don't use the Spatial Surround stuff myself, so I don't know when the feature broke. I know it worked when the component went live because I tested it extensively on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Anyway, I can confirm that it no longer works on either Windows version. And Game Bar doesn't seem to care if you try to mark foobar2000 as a game. Almost looks like Microsoft has internally added foobar2000 to a no-game black list.

I can legally extract the audio out of it by various means; I get a WAV. What is the best method to reencode this WAV not to waste that much space on my MP3 player but also does not sound like cr*p?
If your player supports other formats like Ogg Vorbis or WMA, go for it. If your player only supports MP3, I highly recommend GXLame, it's smaller than LAME -V9. Still is VBR, but it's smaller. VBR is better than CBR at size and quality ratio.

Last time, ask actual ACELP.KELVIN vendor, (not here, not FFmpeg, but actual company responsible for encoder).

Do you have binary encoder and/or binary decoder and audio files? If not, than you are out of lack creating anything sensible.
"Last time, ask actual ACELP.KELVIN vendor, (not here, not FFmpeg, but actual company responsible for encoder)." - SEARCHED "ACELP.KELVIN", BUT LITTLE TO NO LUCK!!!!!!! :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X. FFMPEG ONLY DECODES ACELP.KELVIN FILES! THERE'S NO ENCODER. I WANT A ENCODER.

I've fixed the VGMdb script: vgmdb.boo v0.8, please give that a try. Note that if you've edited the script to add your VGMdb username and password then this will need to be re-done for the updated script.

If it's still not working for you, let me know if you are using a username and password in the script or just anonymously, and what you searched for.
