Title: audio restoration and archives
Post by: 2Bdecided on 2013-01-08 17:37:46
At the bottom right of this page, you can download a superb PDF about audio preservation, archiving, transfers, and restoration...
http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelprestype/s...dio/manual.html (http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelprestype/sound/anaudio/manual.html)
...give yourself a week to read it!

Here is the sorry tale of how well the world's record labels have archived our musical cultural history...

Cheers,
David.

Hmm site is sooo slow it times out.

But is at as bad as the BBC and their overwriting old video tapes because they didn't have enough room or whatever it was?

In terms of how much stuff is lost, not as bad. In terms of stupid arbitrary decisions and couldn't-care-less attitude, worse.

(downloads here fine in less than a second).

Cheers,
David.
