Title: Bluetooth again.
Post by: kennedyb4 on 2018-07-02 23:44:13
I'ma n android fan. The phone I am consicering has Oreo and my receiver is also aptX HD enabled.

But if I'm playing an mp4 file, will it decode to PCM and reprocess as AptX HD or just send the file along for decoding at the receiver in its origian mp4 form.

Assuming receiver is Mp4 compatable.

Any thanks,  BK

It'll be transcoded to whatever format your device has listed as the highest priority that both the source and sink support.

OK thanks,But if they both support mp4,why not just tansmit the file untranscoded. Let the receeiver simply decode?

Logistically, implementing that would be a nightmare.  I'm sure its possible, but I have no idea if anyone has actually done it.

It would also disable support for volume control, mixing in device system sounds any per-track processing, including possibly gapless encoding.
