Em dash, en dash, ellipsis characters can no longer be posted

The new forum software lets you type em and en dashes (— and –) and ellipsis (…) in the WSYIWYG editor, but it converts to them to ordinary ASCII dash/minus characters (-- and -) and periods (...) in the preview and post.  Yet they are still the proper characters if I go back and edit. What's up with that? This makes no sense. Why is the forum refusing to display those characters? People who use these characters surely are using them the way they're supposed to be used, so why "fix"/dumb it down it for them? And it's not like they won't display... it seems all other Unicode characters, including curly quotation marks, are passed through with no problem:

I have reported the issue here.

And now the issue is solved, by commenting out an unnecessary filter function in the BBCode handler.

Thanks!

I see from the developer comments that it was supposed to just be for forums converting from cp1252 to iso-8859-1 ... which makes sense (you'd need to remove the characters unique to cp1252)... but why this filter was enabled for everybody else, who knows.
