CUETools verifying different AccurateRip ID

I've seen a few instances now where CUETools is not detecting the correct AccurateRipID and is instead stating "disk not present in database".

Here's a CD I ripped with dBpoweramp a long time ago. The log shows an accurate rip and associates the CD with a DiscID: 014-001ea367-014ac1a9-c50f430e

Notice how CUETools is associating with a different AccurateRip Disc ID (001ea178-014ab232-c00f420e vs. 001ea367-014ac1a9-c50f430e) which doesn't get a match, despite the CTDB knowing about the AccurateRip Disc ID, because checking the TOC at http://db.cuetools.net/?tocid=pdQdD7C6pGOHbsEZ6V6Fw1q98pQ- shows the correct Disc ID.

So I don't understand why the CUETools Verify function not verifying against the correct ID. Is this a pressing offset difference? AccurateRip DB v1/v2? Have I configured the settings wrong? Any advice appreciated.

The issue is most likely a different pregap length than the standard. dBpoweramp does not preserve the pregap if it is very short, and in the absence of such, CUETools will just assume the default two seconds. Do the following:

* open in a tag editor
* populate the tag field ACCURATERIPID with the value 014-001ea367-014ac1a9-c50f430e you got from dBpoweramp
* Run CUETools again.

Track 01 on the original CD started at 00:00:33 (LBA 33) instead of 00:00:00 (LBA 0) [see note below]. Once ripped into individual tracks, your Track 01 starts at 00:00:00.
CUETools cannot parse dBpoweramp's log file to know that the CD you ripped didn't actually start at 00:00:00.
You apparently didn't use or have a CUE file.
CUETools can also get some information from the metadata if in a format it recognizes. Did dBpoweramp write any tags to the files with the start position or AccurateRip ID?

The CUETools log tells you CTDB has a match that has a pregap length of 00:00:33.
If you enter 00:00:33 in the Pregap box in the Extra section and run Verify again does it find the correct AccurateRip ID?


Note: The start position of the audio data is 00:00:00 (which is 00:02:00 from the start of the CD). Ripping programs usually don't count the 2 second lead-in as part of the start position.

Yes it does. Same result as above. CUETools now finds the correct AccurateRip Disc ID.

dBpoweramp - at least my (paid) version - can populate an ACCURATERIPDISCID tag upon ripping. Then it will be what the dBpoweramp log says e.g. "[DiscID: 014-001ea367-014ac1a9-c50f430e-9]" with the track number at the end.

So, to get everyone confused: this says "disc" ID, but is disc-and-track ID; then on the other hand, CUETools' ACCURATERIPID tag is the disc-only ID part of it, i.e. it cuts away the "-9". CUETools is largely disc-focused. AccurateRip and dBpoweramp are largely track-focused.

PerfectTUNES is able to look up this different disc starting offset, we have a database of TOCs and match against that to generate the correct accuraterip id when not present.
