Can't install any components

Downloaded foobar2000 on recommendation from an audiophile friend, and I'm liking the customization. However, when I try to install components (specifically, Facets and Columns) by dragging the DLLs to the components preferences, instead of the component's name it simply says "(unknown- please apply changes to load)". If I try manually navigating to the DLL via the "Install..." dialogue, it cannot find the files within the folder. The issue is unchanged by attempting to drag/open the .ZIP file. I'm using Windows 8, if it makes much of a difference. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.

What happens when you click the Apply or OK button in the preferences window?

As foosion hinted, you need to press Apply or OK. Foobar will prompt for restart to install and load the new components. After that their names should show up properly. This is normal behavior.

When you navigate to DLL via the "Install..." dialogue, if you don't see DLL file -then type  *.* , select file and click APPLY.
That's all you have to do..
