Hi

Im using TagScanner 4.9 and Creatives Organizer software.

My tags (in Tagscanner) are ID3V1 ID3V2 APE

However when I view the same mp3s in the Creative Organizer it displays them differently.

(for example I changed the name of one artist and its 'PW' in tagscanner but something else in the Organizer.

Any ideas?

thanks!

Maybe Creative Organizer can't read some tags (i.e. APE) ?

Hi!
It will be very usefull if columns with Filename, Author, Title and etc. will be auto-resizable to text inside.

And i found a bug, TagScanner on my computer always starts out of the screen in right down corner:

Long time lurker first time poster.

Love TagScanner, Wonderful Program!

I too have Tagscanner starting in the bottom right corner.

Would it be possible to add a "Select All" option in the right click menu?
This would be helpful when doing a whole album request in Tag Processor.

I feel like the world's biggest idiot.

I've been using MusicMatch Jukebox to edit my MP3 tags. It is very fast and easy to use, with simple buttons for common processes, such as generating tags from filenames.

Now I can't figure out how to do anything with tagscanner. Can't even figure out how to generate tags from the filenames. Can't seem to edit or create a tag for any MP3. I'm at a complete loss for what the various screens are used for.

If the developer has a little free time, maybe he can write some kind of manual, or just jot down instructions for some of the more common tasks, such as generating tags from file names, editing tags, and saving changes.

There. I've admitted to being an idiot. Let the healing being.

Ahem. Actually, I've figured out this much:

What I'm wondering now is if there is an easy way of getting the songs numbered, perhaps by their position in the playlist?

Office2003 Excel Viewer complain "File error: data may have been lost". OpenOffice v2.0.3r7 can open the XLS without problem, but it display high ASCII such as "«Ò ¤k ªá" (already tried changine font's language, also Calc's Asian language, still garbage).

CSV works perfectly.

Thanks for quick reply.

I've tried the latest build with Japanese tag (APEv2, ID3v2), still got garbage in "Title" (why others OK?) after export to HTML. If you interest I can send you the HTML.

Here's the hex dump of an .m4a file tagged by iTunes

As you can see the genre is not given as a text string but rather a numerical value, just like in ID3v1 (the file is tagged as 'Rock'). It'd be great if you could add support for this.

Thanks a lot Tarantul, you did an amazing work on v5, just wondering if you could consider:
* Add drag & drop support
* Batch rename for folders (including subfolders) according to the tag info of the files inside each folder (a very useful feature for those who want to classified the music for example by artist, album, genre... in explorer)
* An option to set the format of the autonumbering (ie: 1, 01 or 01/xx)

I've found a bug in TagScanner 5.0 build 505 beta. The Cyrilic symbols (russian codepage) display incorrectly when working with freebd (codepage change with the button near there didn't help).

P.S: My Windows regional settings are set correctly. All other applications work perfectly.

Hello, I looked at your program and it is very interesting, however I am missing one feature. I used (since now ID3V2.4 support is compliant but broken in foobar2000) to tag files according to their filenames but using a "pattern". The way you set it up makes it impossible for me to correctly tag my files. Let's say I have a file called:
09 Disturbed - Down With The Sickness.mp3
And since this album is from a movie, its various artists so for ipod compatibility and usability, I write the movie name in the artist field. so we actually have %tracknumber% %title%  I am unable to do it because if I set the separator to space, I will have to reconstruct the sentence (and this is not possible either). I'm on 5.0 latest beta, build 505.

Thanks for your work Sergey!

Does TagScanner support adding custom tags into the main interface?

That would be nice, as I rely on some custom tags heavily.

TagScanner is still having problems gettings Japanese characters off of freedb. (Unicode I believe)
Anything with Japanese titles or artists etc. seems to have character missing or blocks instead. I find myself having to find the disc on freedb and manually having  to copy and paste it from the site. >_<

Ok, hey there folks.
I'm also a long-time user of TagScanner and i really like it a lot.
Esp. the new version 5 beta's are a huge step into the right direction.
I just wanted to say thanks for the great work there Tarantul and also wanted to request a small change/feature.

Well, i use foobar2000 to listen to my music. Most of my music tho is asian one may it be Japanese or Korean.
Unicode support in TagScanner is now flawless and also with old versions using Applocale and no unicode i always had great results with tagging my MP3s.
But tho there is still one problem. I like to keep my music with 2 different tags. First is ID3v2 tags with Unicode Japanese or Korean, ID3v1 tags are in romaji - thus a "readable" version for westerners.
The problem now is that TagScanner writes the ID3v2 tags as ID3v2.3 tags (if there were no ID3v2.4 tags before) and when now foobar opens these MP3s it gets a bit confused. Since there are also ID3v1 tags it loads rather the ID3v1 tags for lines that do NOT go over the char-limit in the ID3v1 tags. If some lines are longer that the limit of ID3v1 it loads the ID3v2.3 tag for those. So this looks kinda weird in foobar, some songs have the correct Kanji/Japanese names like i want them to show in my foobar, others have the romaji/western writing.
If i tag the files with ID3v2.4 tags foobar will always load the ID3v2 tag and ignore the v1 one even tho it is still there for players like WinAMP 2.9x or such.

So my request is now, could you add an option to make TagScanner explicitly write ID3v2.4 tags?
So that we can not only choose between ID3v1 and v2 but also choose WHICH v2 standard should be used.
That would be a great addition i'd say and really help at least me a lot.

So thanks again for this great program and i hope you can think about my request. ^^
