Cut video and audio in exactly the same places

Hello everyone

Does anyone know how to cut an xvid file? and also cut a separate mp3 file in exactly the same places so they can be added into a container to create a new video/audio file?

what container are you targeting?

I am currently using Xvid and MP4 in MKV

I figured out how to cut the MKV file, but I want that MP4 file in MP3 format.

So right now I am using fb2k to record the sound of the MKV file while it is playing, I then use MP3Cut to trim the recorded mp3, I then use virtualdubmod to extract the avi from the mkv file and then i use mmg.exe from matroska to mux the extracted avi and the recorded mp3 together into a new mkv file.

There must be a better more accurate way of doing this
