Editing tags of DSD files

Hello, I recently ripped the DSD digital tracks from a Super Audio CD using a utility called removed which automatically generates id3v2 tags using metadata contained in the Super Audio CD.
These .dff files can then be loaded into Foobar2000, once the foo_input_sacd-0.4.5 plugin is installed, and I can read these tags in "Properties".  Great.

Using the latest version of Music Player Daemon in Linux I can also see this same tag information.  Great.

But if I EDIT the tag in foobar2000, this tag then cannot be read in Music Player Daemon.
Something has changed so that MPD no longer recognises the tag.

I posted about this problem on the sacddecoder mailing list -

The developer replied that he thought the problem might be due to foobar using UTF-16 coding in ID3v2 tags, and MPD probably doesn't support UTF-16 in its tag processor.

Could someone suggest a solution?
Would it be possible to select different coding schemes in foobar's tagging process?

Thanks.
