Downloaded FLAC files: are .cue files important?

I've just started downloading music in FLAC form and they all come with .cue files. I've been disregarding them and deleting them. I just want to know if they are important or not.

So only keep it if I want to burn the contents to a CD?

this.

At OP: No, it's not a problem because of the way you ask. You may either have multiple flac files or a cuesheet embedded in a single flac file.

If there is a .log file that contains pre-gap information then AFAIK .cue won't add any extra value for burning. You can make a .cue file with indexes from the .log file.

The only two exceptions I can think of, where .cue would add some extra value is:
1. cd text information (can this be included in the log with EAC?)
2. pre-emphasis information (very rare)

I'm not 100% sure on this, so if I made a mistake please correct me.

I'd love if EAC included everything in the .log by default, tho. It would make everything more simple. Right now if you want gap information in the .log you have to "manually" detect gaps before ripping.

EAC logs don't contain information about indices that are greater than one, UPC/ISRC data, additional flags such as DCP, among other things.

Can it?
I suppose you can include anything found in a CUE sheet in a log file.

Is CD-TEXT included in an EAC log file?
No.
