preserving timestamp when editing tags

Is there a way to edit tags (including album art and newly scanned replay gain info) while keeping the timestamp (last modified date) intact. I sort my music by last modified date, so my latest files are on top. So I find it a real nuisance when I edit tags of old files because it brings it to the top of the playlist. I can do it with Media Monkey but that behemoth takes too long to start up, unlike Foobar which is why I want to crossover.

I'll be grateful for any help.
