Title: replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org
Post by: Notat on 2011-04-24 19:26:50
I'm still waiting to for 2BDecided to make updates to replaygain.org (http://replaygain.org). I just noticed that there's also replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org (http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org). Can we redirect that to point to new specification (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=ReplayGain_specification)?

Yes.

Note that the old site wasn't redirecting, but had the full content. From the server config it seems to actually have been www.replaygain.org at least at some point in time.

PS. Nothing about EBU R128 in the spec?

replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org was the only on-line publication of the original ReplayGain site + specification (after my own webspace was removed in 2002 I think).

I'm hoping you haven't deleted it...! The link to the "original ReplayGain proposal" at the bottom of the wiki spec is now a link to the wiki spec. There needs to be some kind of disambiguation page.

Cheers,
David.

Oh :-) So replaygain.org was just redirecting to replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org. That possibility crossed my mind but I should have checked it better.

All the content is still there (and it should appear as long as you use the full links).

But yeah, what to do? The thread above implies there are updates to replaygain.org that could have been used instead? Is David OK with those? Can't we just plunk those into place instead?

Please tell me what the full links are and I'll update the specification and wiki.

The plan was to replace the original proposal with the new specification but keep the proposal available for reference.

The first phase was to get an updated and accurate ReplayGain specification published. The next phase is for improvements such as R128. I'll restart some of the discussions when I have some time. Thanks for adjusting the server.

Hmm, that didn't work (the redirect intercepted everything), so I restored the old site. I wanted to make the site behave differently depending on whether you access replaygain.org (get wiki site) or replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org (get spec site), but replaygain.org, which isn't under my control, does a silent redirect to replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org already, so I can't have it serve different content.

Let me know when you have the new content for replaygain.org and I'll update the site. For now, I put the spec redirect under http://www.replaygain.org/specification.html (http://www.replaygain.org/specification.html).

We do want both replaygain.org and replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org to point to the new specification on the Wiki. We also want David's original content to be available through some public URL (e.g. replaygain.org/proposal.html). If you can't immediately figure out a way to make that last piece work, I belive we can still move forward because the original material is available via the Wayback machine (http://replay.waybackmachine.org/20090306202649/http://www.replaygain.org/) and that link is already included in the specification.

Old site:

http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/proposal/ (http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/proposal/)

New site (redirect):

http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/ (http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/)

This should be OK, right?

Here's (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=85978&view=findpost&p=763842) another requested ReplayGain correction.

It actually looks like David let ReplayGain.org (http://www.replaygain.org) registration expire. Is there some way we can help get this back online?
