[TOS #6] foobar replaygain stuck at 89db??

I am posting this whole thing again since some genius decided to move it to the trash.

I am relatively new to foobar but am now using it to add replaygain to my flac's.  At the default setting of 89db I find it a bit low so wanted to set it to 92db instead.  I go to preferences/advanced/replaygain and set "target volume level" to 92 instead of the default 89.  I cleared replaygain info from a file and told it to scan per track gain.  It comes up with the exact same -11 value that it did the first time when it was set to 89db.  I tried it again and set the target volume to 98db, same thing, it still comes out with -11.

I have replaygain 2.2.2 and foobar 1.3.15.

Either I am missing something or changing the target volume simply has no effect at all.

I then had 2 replies:
"ReplayGain target level isn't adjustable as it's a standard. There are quite many threads about this that at least Google search finds instantly."

Firstly, I spend quite a while attempting to google it, and got nothing useful at all.  Secondly, if its a "standard" and cannot be adjusted, how the hell do you explain this option.....

The second reply was "In the replaygain page of the settings, you can add preamplification, to adjust the final loudness of replaygained files. +4 or even +6 dB should be possible with modern music, with no issues."

This doesn't help when trying to play the files in things other than foobar that do not have the preamp option, so I want to just set it so it isn't so quiet to start with, by using the option that seems to be there in the settings, but which apparently does nothing.

@ewokuk : So far, you don't like to read rules, and you don't like to read answers.

If you don't want to understand how replaygain works, and you seem to indicate that you want it to work on places where you don't have control about replaygain, then you ALSO had the answer in the other answers (you were shown links to up to five posts that talk about this).

If you don't want help, we can't help. We will not go to your home and change things to your likeness.

Every player that supports ReplayGain should have the ability to adjust preamp to change the effective target loudness. If your player doesn't have ReplayGain support you are forced to permanently alter the files to be at the level you require.

Read first: Does your thread belong in G/A? Choose the right subforum

I ended up in this forum because this is where I saw a replaygain thread posted when I was googling it, and as I said in my first post, I am a new user to foobar.  If it was not the right forum, the corretc thing to do was to move it to the right forum so I can still get the help I was asking for, instead of moving to to the trash.  if this is how new users are welcomed, dont worry, i wont be back, ill go use something else.

I know how it works thanks.  And you have still failed to address the issue, it's a very simple issue but apparently you don't grasp it. What exactly is that option for in foobar's replaygain settings because it does absolutely nothing when I use it.  The description seems clear, it changes the target volume level, but actually using it changes nothing.  Again if this is the kinda help people get, good luck with your extremely friendly and helpful community, I'll go use something else.  I've got better things to do with my time than join a new forum asking for assistance on something being attacked by several people as if I am some sort of moron.  I googled "foobar replaygain settings" several times and found nothing of any use, I had assume it would then be easier and simpler to ask people that would likely know the answer, apparently I was wrong.

I am using Neutron for android, the audiophile music player of choice.  It supports replaygain (obviously) but does not have an option in the replaygain settings for replaygain preamp.   No idea why because it has options for just about every other audio setting there is.  I also have poweramp and that DOES have a preamp setting for replaygain but the sound quality of poweramp is no as good as Neutron.  I had thought the simplest solution was just to adjust the level that replaygain was targeting and not have to worry about preamp.

Hey genius.  It's a defined standard.  Use the preamp sliders or get out.

P.S. I prefer a target level of 79 dB, which is probably too quiet for you to handle.

Why don't you try foobar2000 mobile instead?  Which allows for adjusting of the preamp sliders.

I've never used neutron player, but the website says it has a preamp setting. If you can't find it, maybe you could ask on their website how it works.
