#noise was just created by some HA members on the freenode IRC network.

Feel free to join and discuss music of all styles, genres and ages.
"Now playing flooding" is highly appretiated if followed by insightful discussions.

umm, those two quotes do sound quite funny, since they're reffering to the same thing...... *tries to imagine discussing i.e. classic music on a -noise- channel *

We had to come up with a name and we had to do it quickly.
Someone suggested it. Everybody seemed to agree on it. End of story.
Everybody was opposed to my very own suggestion #crossmyheartwithaknife though...

hmm, seems like i am doing something wrong.

just tried to connect via trillian, but i do get the error "couldn't resolve hostname"

i did use port 6667 (although i do think this probably doesn't matter, since it seems to be a DNS-problem)

Other irc-servers do work without any problems, though.

nope, can't get it to work (i tried some of their eu-servers).
Seems like he can't resolve MY hostname. Maybe it is because i'm behind a NAT(not locally, but at my ISP) (but for whatever reason, thats no problem on other irc-networks)
Identd is enabled. Firewall is set to let trillian do whatever it wants.



I'll get some sleep now - i may give it next week another try.

There's no #, it's just irc://irc.freenode.net/noise. If they actually use your link, they would end up joining ##noise, which is empty

#noise was your suggestion too , and it's a very good name IMO. Something as simple as #music would've probably attracted random freenode users who had no idea the channel was HA-related (unofficially), but #noise makes it community-specific.
