CD Ripping - Mixes

I am currently ripping my CDs to FLAC using EAC. I am ripping the albums to individual tracks (Creating "multiple WAV file with Gaps (Non-Compliant) Cue Sheets).

I was curious to know how people treat mix CDs however. My instinct is to rip them as one large file - with a cue sheet for playback, and then save the tracklist in "Unsynced Lyrics".

Is this how other people approach them - and if so could I get some advice on the best way to rip this way using EAC - would it be using the image and cue sheet option?

Any advice and views  much appreciated.

i rip mix CDs as separate tracks. i've not used EAC in a very long time but when i did, i used whatever the default settings are. you should get perfect gapless playback.

the only time i'd consider using cuesheets is if you want to burn the files back to CD at a later date.

There are pros & cons no matter what you do.

I don't want to see any mixed tracks in my library; I just want to see one "track" for the entire DJ mix, credited to the DJ. When I play it, I usually want to hear the whole thing. But...I also prefer to know what specific track is currently on. I haven't really found a way to get what I want.

I also don't want to see mixed tracks in the library - I am thinking that the loading the cuesheet might help with giving the details of the tracks and putting the tracklist in the "unsynced lyrics" tab would at least give an idea of the tracks within the file (this is what I do with MP3 mixes from the internet).

Do you rip with "Image" on EAC?

Would an embedded cuesheet work for that? I am looking into it at the moment.

In all media players of which I’m aware, a cuesheet, whether embedded or external, will cause the player to split the file into separate tracks in playlists. That doesn’t do what marc2003 and you seem to want: showing it as a single track but altering the metadata dynamically depending on the current position. I’ve not heard of a way to do that, but maybe it’s possible.
