Help! CueTools error: Access to path denied

Hello

I have been using EAC to rip my discs for the past few years, and much more recently I discovered that I could fix not-quite-right rips using CueTools. I do remember that it was not very intuitive to learn the process, but have been successful a few times.

However, I recently had my HD crash and had to install Windows (7) from scratch. I have now downloaded CueTools 2.1.6 (which is the same version I last used), but am experiencing the following error:

Exception: Access to the path 'C:\some\path\that\doesnt\exist\and\is\not\referenced\anywhere\in\the\software' is denied.

Could one of you folks with more experience than I please help me to figure it out?

Thanks

Brian

Thank you for your swift reply.

Unfortunately, nothing in that thread seems to be relevant to my issue.

I have checked the .cue file and there are no characters that could not be used in a path name or file name.

Incidentally, the path that it is telling me is denied is 'C:\users\Brian\Documents\My videos', which I find very odd as I cannot for the life of me imagine a reason that CueTools would want anything in that location. Both the input (.cue file and .wav file) and output (%filename%-new) are pointed to 'C:\users\Brian\Documents'.

Thanks again

Brian

Could you post the contents of the CUE anyway (and the filename)?

Here is the .cue file and the .log file just for good luck.

Incidentally, I moved the three files (.cue, .wav and .log) to a network drive and the CueTools repair went without a hitch.

If you are sure that your rip contains errors, you can use CUETools to repair it.

Although there is now no longer any urgency, I would like to know why the error was thrown on the local drive, but not on the network drive.

Just for giggles, I tried every .cue/.wav pair in my Documents directory before moving that set and every one of them failed with the same error.

It might be beneficial to add that the file system is NTFS on my Windows machine and ZFS on the network drive.

Do all the rips that failed have the tilde '~' in the filename?

All of my files have the tilde in the filename. Good rips, bad rips, album cover art, concert dvd rips, etc etc. It's my favourite separator character because it's seldom found anywhere else.

I have never before had any issue. (However, I am not completely sure (only half sure) that I have ever run CueTools on a file that was on the local Windows drive; I save everything to the NAS.)

Thanks

Brian

I haven't been able to duplicate the Exception so far. I'm not having an issue with the tilde on Win10 either so just pulling straws perhaps.
