Dolby Atmos for Headphones support broken for multichannel audio since v1.6.1

I've been using foobar for several years now, and have been silently hoping that the program would eventually resume functioning with Dolby Atmos for Headphones (and other Windows virtual surround options like Windows Sonic), functionality which existed in version 1.6, but was broken in the 1.6.1 release. At the very least some sort of configuration setting to revert to older behavior to regain this functionality would be awesome.

It seems foobar now only outputs two of the channels of a multichannel track in stereo if it detects the output device as stereo, which stops virtual surround programs from activating on detection of surround audio output.

Reading the changelog the only change in 1.6.1 I can guess might have been related would be:
Quote
Changing volume no longer affects Windows Mixer sliders; restarting foobar2000 no longer resets Windows Mixer slider to 100%.

Unfortunately Microsoft for some reason blocked foobar2000 from getting the automatic spatial audio support with XAudio, but you can now use https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_out_spatial.

Hmm, well, this is better than nothing but I dislike that it forces stereo tracks to play with spatial processing. I guess I'll just have to manually switch outputs back and forth.
