Cleanfeed is a content blocking system implemented in the UK by BT, claimed to be targeted only at illegal content identified by the Internet Watch Foundation, and which all UK ISPs will be obliged to implement a version of by the end of 2007. Information on how this works is restricted to members of the LINX. [1] [2]

I don't think I have to say more than that. Hello, censorship. (Goodbye, ISP's common carrier status.)

ignore this if you don't live in the uk
err... i'm not using windows any more ;)

UK goes Iran and China?

In Germany the law agencies will soon be allowed to install spyware onto people's internet PCs without their knowledge...

Now, try to top that!

No, i won't  Sooner or later it will reach me too...

But isn't this primarly aimed against child-porn and similar things ? Perhaps it isn't a good idea that everyone can access instructions how to build an a-bomb (although i'd like to have an a-bomb, just in case  )
Of course i understand that today it blocks child-porn, tommorow warez, and the next day it will filter the news...

(But when it will start to block our favorite straight-porn sites the governments can expect devastating riots  )

Such censor measures will only make that more and more networks like freenet become the norm.

Yeah they filter P2P but its only for child abuse content. They dont care about other stuff. And my ISP is a reported member already.

To minimise the availability of potentially illegal internet content specifically;

    * images of child abuse* hosted anywhere in the world
    * criminally obscene content hosted in the UK
    * incitement to racial hatred content hosted in the UK

I love the governments powerful advertising.

Or how about TERRORISM? I think this t-shirt hits the spot: http://geekleft.org/tshirt/osama/front.jpg

It's not the criminals who will suffer because of these new laws (they know their ways), it's everyone else.
