What AAC bitrate do you use for "higher quality" audio?

I encode with QAAC 2.68 (CoreAudioToolbox 7.10.9.0).

Here are some bitrate I use for different audio types:
  • 48 khz, stereo = 224 k
  • 44.1 khz, 5.1 = 512 k
  • 48 khz, 5.1 = 640 k

What bitrate do you use for 5.1 and 48 khz audio to achieve transparent result?

No one is encoding 5.1 / 48 kHz with AAC?
