How does one install a 3rd party plugin?

I'm trying to use foo_cuesheetcreator, but can't figure out how to install it.

There are 2 plugins with similar names: foo_cuesheetcreator and foo_cuesheet_creator. The former was made for foobar2000 0.8 and is not compatible with current version, the latter should work. ( http://tmp.reharmonize.net/foobar/foo_cuesheet_creator_0.4.6.zip )

before these posts, I simply copied the DLL into the components folder. is that OK?

Not really a good idea, as the player won't be able to remove or update it, assuming it's in the official repository. You'll also need elevated privileges, if it's a global installation and not a portable one.

Personally I've always just zipped old components that worked that way and renamed the zip's extension to .fb2k-component.
