Hi shaneh,
the zip archive seems to be corrupted.
Please take a look at my other post also: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....ndpost&p=274509 (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=31486&view=findpost&p=274509)

Ok, I fixed up the pause/resume problem.

I think it would be nice if someone made a nice GUI, or otherwise made it configurable for the formatting, like I have for Toaster.

Hopefully this .zip wont be corrupt.

Thank you shaneh, so fassst!
Plugin works 100%.
I experienced zip archive corruption again, but maybe guilt of win xp internal zip manager. WinRAR opens successfully.

BTW, somehow I forgot to say... thanks for this class plugin!

Just applied the Mess Patch from mess.be to switch it to Artist - Track and now I'm set to go!

Thanks again for a great plugin!

Hello again. I think I'm missing something , I extracted the file in the zip to the Components folder and I turned on the "What I'm listening to" feature in MSN Messenger but I only get <Unknown Title> - <Unknown Artist> .

All my mp3 are correctly tagged. I need to configure something? .

Cheers and thank you in advance.

EDIT: I'm using Windows Me. Maybe this feature is only available for Windows XP/2000?

New problem, i have saw that the plug-in doesn't work with stream tag...

The plug-in shows the name of the radio ( like : "? - Frequence 3")

When i'm deleting the name of the radio, it shows "? - ?"

PS: I'm french, sorry for my english...
Title: Foo_msn
Post by: shaneh on 2005-02-18 12:40:44
Thats because it just uses %title% and %artist% for the track. What is needed is a configuration where you can specify the tag particulars that you want. I do this with toaster with (basically):

$if(ishttp, %httptitle%, %tracktitle%)

You would need to modify the source to either make this configurable, or put in the appropriate tags required for foobar to pick up the correct info.

Note that the Toaster plugin Ive posted in this forum has the ability to update MSN titles too. It will also let you format the titles to be updated.

Its possible to configure toaster to not show the popups but still update the msn titles if thats what you want.

Hi Shaneh,
I'm using MSN Messenger 7.0.0632 and foobar with your latest foo_msn plugin (got from http://www.myplugins.info/) (http://www.myplugins.info/)).
It's good it now displays artist name first.

When I click on the title in Messenger window, MSN Music window appears as in the screenshot. The album name is right, but the artist seems to be got from the track title...
I tried foo_toaster 0.1.6 and it works correctly instead.

Greetings and thanks for your work.
Title: Foo_msn
Post by: shaneh on 2005-03-05 14:21:07
hmmm, i mustve put it the wrong way 'round. If I fix it, the artist name and title will be reversed again, the same as in WMP.

This is customizable, but foo_msn doesnt have this, use foo_toaster for customisation. You should not use foo_msn with foo_toaster together. I dont see why anyone would want to click on it anyway.. ?

Yes I noticed, they are reversed with WMP and iTunes.
With both foo_toaster (by customization) and foo_msn I have the good order (artist - title) displayed, but: foo_toaster sends the artist name in the correct way (see following screenshot); foo_msn does not (see screenshot in my previous post).
If possible, I would like to keep using foo_msn because I don't need the (nice!!) features of foo_toaster for now.

I agree it's useless you click on your own songs, but sometimes I want to click on the ones of my contacts to get some info.
All things considered it's not a serious issue - album title is obtained correctly so I can get info in other ways.
Thanks again!

I have now updated the plugin to support some basic configuration, as well as made the source code public again.

Its available at http://www.myplugins.info (http://www.myplugins.info)

Some further improvements may be to add some better support for http streams etc. Feel free to make updates and send them to me

thx for the update.. what is WM/ID in config panel?
Title: Foo_msn
Post by: shaneh on 2005-04-18 07:07:24
Wm/ID is just windows media content id garbage. You can put whatever you want in there, and use it as an extra field if you like, through the {3} selector.

Be advsied this will be sent to all your contacts even if you arent showing it. When you click on a contacts currently playing song, it uses the fields to try locate the song. If WM/ID is present, it may use that field to try locate the song. So I suppose you could be clever and set it to the wmid of some britney speares song to give people clicking on your song a cute surprise. I assume if the WMID isn't valid, it then uses the album/artist/title to try locate the song.

I havent really experimented with it that much, but the WMP seems to use that field for that purpose, so its labeled as such.

I've got this to work with 0.9. This is experimental but seems to work fine:I hope Shane is alright with this. I've already had contact with him on modifying foo_msn before and he was okay with it. But I turned out to be lazy and never really sent him anything.
I changed the name to foo_msnalt at his request to set it apart from the official version, though.

seems the new wlm uses a different method for display
a workaround is to change the value of "Title {1}" to %title% - %artist% %album%
can't get the parenthesis to work though
till the next release  :)

I'm not sure I understand the problem. The MSN format string is still configurable. There's a bug in Windows Live Messenger that it doesn't show the artist, but others (not using WLM) can see it.

Can we have a summary?

What are the best plug-ins to use?

For 0.83 or 0.9, and MSN or Live Messenger?

I have 0.83 and Live Messenger, with the old Toaster, but its been dodgy recently. Especially since upgrading to Live Messenger. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks...

Keep up the good work shaneh!

Okay, looks like I was wrong. They (unfortunately) ditched the format string in the later Windows Live Messenger builds. I've added a Windows Live Messenger mode checkbox to the preferences, and it shows up fine now for me.

Looks like it. Odd in the latest WLM though, is that they seem to have switched around artist ({0}) and title ({1}) in the formatting string?

Some windows media player specific identification I think, not sure if it's for the song or wmp itself. You should probably leave it empty though.

Should I use the aforementioned plugin (it works with MSN v8.1.0178.00 / Foobar 2000 v0.9.4.3) or the one uploaded here?
Also, How do I get the Artist tag to appear BEFORE the song title?

Samurro, you need to take the downloaded dll and copy it to C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000\components\ if you're running a 64-bit Windows OS...for a 32-bit Windows OS you need to copy it to C:\Program Files\foobar2000\components\ and you should be able to get it to work. It worked without a hitch when I did that.

Im sorry if this thread is a little old, but would it be possible for anyone to recompile this component with the newest SDK?

edit: oops, this is strange...

I'd also like an update to this component. The source code is available and msn_wlm isn't as good (it displays a song as 'now playing' even if it's just paused). thanks.

well, foo_wlm indeed does show the song on WLM when paused, but there is a "(Paused)" tag at the end. It doesn't really matter to me, IMO...

but if u really want foo_msn style plugin (or foo_msnalt), there is a link to a modded foo_msnalt in the foo_wlm thread:
Code: [Select]

srsly, someone ought to put this up in the wiki....

foo_msnalt.dll doesn't seem to work with foobar2000 v0.9.6 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

Can we have a fix for it?

Thanks.

You can download a version build with latest SDK here (http://www.saunalahti.fi/~cse/foobar2000/foo_msnalt.zip).

Hi, is there an MSN plugin capable of submitting trackinfo from streams (i.e. not the item's name but the currently playing track).

foo_msnalt started to annoy Peter because of somewhat frequent crash reports from it. I tried to fix what I could and added stream title display support. Download version 2.41 (http://www.saunalahti.fi/~cse/foobar2000/foo_msnalt.zip).

Is there a newer version that works with 9.6.8?

Use foo_wlm (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=66346) instead.

Use foo_wlm (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=66346) instead.

Works perfect; thanks!

Hi, is there a variable or a way to show the name of a streaming radio station as well as the artist and song currently playing?

eg. Radio 1 (blah blah) - Radiohead - Creep

Thanks.

PS (I switched to using this today, I got tired of AMIP wrapper restricting the amount of characters in the title and struggling to work it out properly).

Maybe you should try AMIP instead
