Title: Mixing lossless and lossy files in iTunes - good idea?
Post by: Nubben on 2011-02-22 22:58:42
Hi All,

I've gotten so fed up with ripping to lossless and then converting to AAC using iTunes (I have two different libraries for each).

Question is - has anyone any experience mixing the AAC and ALAC in one library - is there a noticeable difference in sound when playing through speakers?

If you do keep in separate libraries - do you back-up the lossless files and never listen to them (only for archival purposes then) or do you use both equally?

Thanks!

Since you’ll be the listener, that’s not our question to answer. You’d have to conduct an ABX test (plenty of info on that in General Audio and on the wiki) to find that out.
