"Full-range speakers" setting in Windows 7

Hi,
Can someone explain what the "Full-range speakers" setting in Windows 7 does? On every site I've searched through something different is written and recommended.
In my understanding you disable this setting if you have a subwoofer with small satellites. If you just have two stereo speakers you enable it.
My speakers go from 80hz - 20khz. Are they full-range?
