I am using foobar for a while now. I have an 8.1 sourround system on my computer and I would like to use all speakers while listening to musik. I found that DSP-thing "convert stereo to 4 channel". This a big effort... my front and very rear speakers are used but unfortunatly my side-speakers ain't. Does an additional filter exist that doubles the stereo signal for 6 channels maybe it is even possible to copy the signal once more and convert it to a mono-signal for the front center-speaker.
Maybe it is possible to edit the existing DSP-thing but i don't know how. Is this a native programmed filter or a foobar-script? Maybe some knows if a DSP exists that makes 6 or even 7 channels...

What's your set-up? Are you connected directly to a soundcard, or are you running S/PDIF through a home theater system?
Usually, this kind of thing is handled by your soundcard driver/or utility, or by your receiver. For example, all home theater receivers with Dolby Pro logic II have various "soundfield" settings that will spread the 2-channel sound to all speakers.
With one of those methods, it shouldn't matter if you're running foobar2000, or any other player software... Anytime your computer plays a stereo sound, it should be "decoded" to surround sound. (Except for Dolby digital or DTS, which should be passed-thru as true discrete digital surround.)

I have the Creative Soundblaster Platinum ZS together with Creative GigaWorks 8.1
I could set the driver to "stereo-souround" but then all signals would becomde stereo and spread over all boxes, so i would have to change the driver settings between every switch from listening to music, watching a dvd, playing a game and so on...
I will try that matrix mixer. I hope it works the way i expect...

I rechecked my driver settings... i activated so called "CMSS" problem solved regular sourround-sound works still! no DSP-thing needed anymore

CMSS sounds terrible, I don't recommend using it. Stereo Surround doesn't do anything bad to surround sources - they are surround, just as they should be. It doesn't convert them to stereo - I used this option for a long time (stereo music, 5.1 DVDs, games, etc), but maybe it does do something nasty on a 8.1 system, dunno.

Right now, though, I getting used to plain stereo again and plan to upgrade my speakers to something better than a typical surround speaker set with a subwoofer and tiny satellites.
