Does itunes not convert wav->aac !?

Hello,

I want to convert a wav (which i decompressed from wavpack) in aac for my iPod. I get an "unknown error (-223)"    this site says it is a -223: siInvalidCompression ???.
I tried also (just to test if my aac-settings were ok) converted a mp3 in aac without any problem!?
After that I tried other wavs i had on my PC, none did work...

Does iTunes not convert wav in acc or what can be the problem (and solution) ?

Thanks.

I rip wavs from CDs and compress them with iTunes all the time.  Sounds like your wav file might be suspect.

Try installing Quicktime Standalone. Don't uninstall first, just go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html and grab a copy of Quicktime standalone. Install it right over the top of your existing installation. Reboot.

This sort of thing has been known to fix weird issues with iTunes in the past. Can't hurt.

Thanks! It solved the problem
(however I'll uninstall QT again, because I don't like it, hoping no problems will occur...)

You could always uninstall Quicktime, then install Quicktime Alternative. It's supposed to work with iTunes.

That was your problem there.  iTunes NEEDS quicktime (or alternative) to function properly.  If you uninstall QT then of course iTunes will not work correctly.

well, I have Quicktime Alternative, and I'm very happy with it. Also, iTunes used to work with it until someday, it didn't anymore. Don't really know why...

Dunno where you got that idea, but iTunes does not now nor has ever worked with QT Alternative, to the best of my knowledge. They don't do the same things in the same ways, so I see no reason for iTunes to ever work with QTAlt.

Install Quicktime. It's required for iTunes. Simple as that, really.

This is true... Quicktime is several things: A decoder, a web plugin, a standalone player, and an encoding interface. Quicktime alternative, while cool, is only the first 2. iTunes needs the encoding API.
