Archiving your music

Directories:
Artist ~ Year ~ Album (I like the tilde (~) as a delimiter because I've never seen it used in any titles, etc...)

Filenames:
a) Single file/image: Artist ~ Year ~ Album.ext, Artist ~ Year ~ Album.ext
b) Multi-files: Artist ~ Album ~ Number ~ Trackname.ext

the easy and well structured method, works for my ~550 album collection:

/Music Folder/Artist - Year - Album Title/Tracknumber - Track Title

So yeah that means there are 550 albums in one folder, but alphabetical. Oh and I keep "THE"

Artist - Album - Track# - Trackname

All 1500 CDs will be in one directory, 15000ish tracks! (I'm about 75% through!)

With the ability of the likes of WMP and iTunes to organise files based on ID tags I never saw the need to implement a directory structure.

I put (Disc 1), (Disc 2) etc on the end of the album name for multiple disc albums, and (CD single) for singles.
