Is anyone aware of any published FLAC encoding time benchmarks on different hardware platforms (CPUs)? I just read in another forum someone claiming that FLAC encoding under Win7 using an Atom D2700 takes something on the order of 5 to 6 hours to encode 60 minutes of music, which I find difficult to believe.
Or, if someone with an Atom based system could give me a ballpark figure of what you're seeing. 100x, 50x, 25x?
37x encoding to FLAC -5 on Atom 230
Thanks Spoon.
FLAC encoding was something around 10x on my Atom N270-based netbook, circa 2009. The N270 was single-core, 32-bit, and one of the slowest Atom models (if not the slowest). Pretty sure it's not even available anymore.
I'm gonna call BS on whoever said it takes 5 to 6 hours to encode an hour of material on an Atom. That would be around 0.1x - 0.2x... I may not remember the exact numbers, but I would certainly remember if it was that slow.
