Real time pics from the IBC2003 exhibition

Just out of curiosity...

Y'all didn't travel hundreds, if not thousands, of miles to sit around at a convention center the whole time, did you? I mean there has to be at least some sort of club or otherwise that has music or better yet, a live act going. Isn't that the real deal behind all this stuff anyway? Hate to think a trip would be wasted entirely on - (gak) - business.

BTW - Nice pics John. Thanks for sharing.

Do you guys work for Ahead or something or why else would someone stick around there forever?
--alt-presets are there for a reason! These other switches DO NOT work better than it, trust me on this.

Small, maybe stupid question.
How many of you actually knew each other physically before this?
I'm guessing Ivan and Menno, obviously. But how about the others?
What about Pio2001? I thought he would maybe stop by.

Dologan, how did this fit with your "dream"?
JohnV looks a little different.
I'm the one in the picture, sitting on a giant cabbage in Mexico, circa 1978.

"Dream"? In quotation marks? Are you suggesting that I made it up? I am offended!
No, I didn't make it up; I am not so pathetic as to invent a dream just to get 15 min of attention here!
Anyway, it just happened that it wasn't so far from the truth. At least for the short, blond hair and fair skin.

Not for one minute, my friend!
The quotation marks implied nothing, I used them for "emphasis" (there they are again)

But, if you think about it, there's always a little invention when sharing dreams with others. You know, it is nearly impossible to remember all of it, so there's always a little "filling in the gaps", so to speak. Or we try to make some sense of it.

You had never seen anybody else who worked on HA in real life before?  Or you had never seen anybody at all in real life before?      I mean, it's possible...you could live your entire life on the internet...order out for groceries, etc.  (Just kidding!)

But seriously...It's nice to see pics of some of the admins/mods/developers who are so instrumental in the realm of HA and digital audio encoding in general.  Everything seems more "real" when you can put a face with a name (even with a screen name).

Thanks John V for posting these!

Anyway, I want to thank Jim (Jim Corbett, Executive Director of Ahead software), Ivan, Menno and Alexandra for making our trip really nice and enjoyable, and successful in many ways. Thanks guys and Sasha!

It's not exactly like we had a choice of beers to drink in that place

As I remember correctly, you partook of the "dishwater" as well

How long has Dibrom had a beard?

It's funny - I was only thinking last night that some of the HA crew should get together.

It would be interesting to ABX some things that you can't by yourself, listen to some music, and maybe chill some place.

But on which side of the Atlantic?

Cheers,
David.

I was not here for a week because my cable ISP "forgot" that I had an Internet connection. I moved to another flat, and they installed the TV, about which I couldn't care less, but they didn't bother about Internet !

Anyway, you can see me here, on the left. Another one

Why "champagne" in the url? Are you from Champaign? (I am from Reims)

The photos are part of a photo album taken at Champagne-en-Valromey, 01 Ain, France, that's why I put them in a "Champagne" folder
