Hi there.
I am very happy. I would like to share it with you.

Today, I contact with the support on UK.
I talk on the phone with mr Chad Paine.
YES! That is what I call "support".
He helped me fix the problem, giving me VERY important help.

Finally, I disable the "Cool & Quite" from bios and now the sound card works absolutely perfect.

I would like also to "thank" mr Andreas Preuss from ESI Audiotechnik GmbH for not helping me and ingoring my emails.

If you're happy with that then fair enough, but it's not a fix, it's a workaround, and it's one that's going to lead to increased power consumption and increased heat output (and possibly increased noise if your CPU fan is under thermal control) from your PC.

I'd be asking for an actual fix personally.

Hey all, i've experienced the distortion on 2 different computers (both had different motherboards), and both were loaded with Windows 7. 

I tried everything to clear up the metallic distorted sound that was occuring at random.  I tried updating drivers, formatting the computer drive and doing a clean 7 install, uninstalling 3rd party codecs.

I installed ASIO4all too, and tried different configurations to no avail.

Then i realized what is common about both computers.. Both had a ESI Maya44 PCI and both had a Dlink DWA552 Wireless pci card! Hmmmm....


Well, i'm pleased to say that after taking out the Dlink Wireless cards, the sound distortion problem is solved for me!

If you have other PCI cards installed, try taking them out and see if this clears the problem up.  I'm now just using a hard wire connection - problem solved - the Maya44 sounds crystal clear now with Virtual DJ 8.

I hope this helps others...please let me know if this is the solution to your distortion too!

What you have discovered is a well known solution for audio problems of many USB audio devices (I have E-MU 0404 USB but no such problem with WiFi). Because of WiFi is not the only possible culprit, you should use the DPC Latency Checker tool to find out if there's driver related reason(s) for the degraded audio/video streaming capacity. DPC Latency tool should notice the WiFi problem as well.

It would appear that this DLink card uses an Atheros AR5008 chipset and would be supported even by recent Atheros drivers (I saw a version from early this year). A driver update is the very least I would try before ripping the card out altogether. A look at the motherboard manual's interrupt routing table may also be helpful.

That being said, wired Ethernet pretty much always beats WiFi in performance and reliability if routing a cable isn't too much of a hassle. WiFi is convenient but comes with a million gotchas.

I'm facing the same issue. After I set the sample rate to 48kHz (with Ableton ex.) the problem dissapeared! Somehow 44.1 kHz makes this error. If you want send me some beer, don't hesitate! :D :D

Very important to note:
Some USB controllers/devices create lag, etc.
you should check if you have a broken (most china stuff is sometime) usb memory card readers, etc.
disconnect all usb devices to test it.
Maya44 works fine with latest driver from esi website.

if your onboard devices are defective, disabling does not help in most cases.
buy a new pcie usb controller and in last case a new mainboard/computer.
very terrible.. but disconnecting usb helps, but you will miss the usb devices then ;)
