Title: At what vbr setting does WMA reach transparency?
Post by: ClearSky on 2020-06-23 10:14:14
WMA command line encoder has Q 10, Q 25, Q 50, Q 75, Q 90, and Q 98 options.

Which of these is comparable to LAME's V 4 (near transparency)?

LAME V 4 target is 160 kbps.  In my library they average 150 kbps.
Some WMA info is here:

You'd have to ABX them yourself to come up with an answer.

BTW, WMA commandline encoder has options other than Q: you can also set CBR and ABR.
