music files don't open with double click, elevation required

Windows 7/64. Foobar doesn't open .mp3 other music files with double click from windows Explorer, nor from the context menu. I get "elevation required" message. The files  open from within Foobar, I guess since I ran it as administrator. I've taken ownership of the music folder and granted full privileges to my user ID. Also the files open fine with VLC or WMP  So I'm thinking the problem lies in Foobar. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, set it up to run as administrator.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
Jack
