Need help with "My Control" settings

I'm not sure what happened to my settings. The problem: when I open a thread, the only post that is displayed is the OP. All other responses are in outline format and I have to click each response individually to read them. I would like to have AT LEAST 10 responses to view.

I went to "my controls" -> "board settings" -> then changed "Number of posts to show for each topic page" and "Number of posts to show for each forum page" to 40, then 10, then back to default. Nothing seems to correct the problem.

In case you are wondering why your display settings have changed, it happens sometimes when you klick on a link to a thread after doing a Google search. In that case, Google indexed the page in outline mode and when you click such a link that has the display option in the URL (...&mode=threaded), Invision Power Board sets a cookie on your PC so that all other threads you open are also displayed in outline mode.
