External Firewire CD-RW for Mac G4

Hi--

I need to buy an external CD-RW Firewire for my son's Mac G4. Since I've been working on a PC lately I'm out of touch with Mac hardware/software issues.

I'm looking at a Yamaha CRW2200FXZ 20x/10x/40x vs. a LaCie SE2100 24x/10x/40x.

The Yamaha is a lot cheaper but I'm concerned about the compatibility of the bundled MaxNero software. I have a feeling the LaCie is probably more truly Mac-centric and comes with Toast and integrates better with real Mac software. I'd appreciate any informed opinions. Thanks.???
