I am happy to release a new component that let you organize your playlists in a treeview control.
With foo_playlist_organizer (aka foo_plorg), you will be able to create folders and hierarchies to arrange and categorize your playlists. All current functions are available by drag & drop or right click on items in the panel.
It can be downloaded here (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg) and is compatible with both DUI and CUI.
Please check this page (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29) for help and additional information.
controls (nodes) doesn't follow system (vista/7) style
The click region is only limited to the playlist name. An option to have single click to display would be good as well
Thanks
awesome! Thank you!
yes! i've been waiting for a component like this for a long time.
it's a great start, but i think there is work to be done
i would really like to see the ability to assign different colours to different folders
need the ability to double-click on a playlist and have it not just load but also start playing
i'm also noticing issues with the text turning white when selected, which is frustrating
still, i'm looking forward to seeing this develop!
The click region is only limited to the playlist name. An option to have single click to display would be good as well ...
I'll probably add this option later. Can you elaborate on "click region is limited to the playlist name?"
i would really like to see the ability to assign different colours to different folders
Not in a near future ...

Will be implemented

I you are using DUI, foo_plorg is supposed to mimic the standard colors behaviour (just like other components) unless there is a bug.
I meant
-------------------------

If you double click he empty region after the playlist name the playlist doesn't get activated even though it is selected
ok, thanks. It used to work here .. I will fix for the next version.
This looks very promising. Can it be developed to have the same functionality as playlist_tree_mod?
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=64623 (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=64623)
The developer of that plugin states he doesn't have interest in making it DUI compatible unfortunately.
Playlist tree mod is very good. I'll start using this. Playlist management/navigation tools for DUI have been underwhelming to this point.
Very nice. waited long for a component like this. thank you for developing it.
Finally, I've waited for this for quite some time! =D
Could you make it optional to show how many tracks each playlist contains? It takes up a lot of space:

I am happy to release a new component that let you organize your playlists in a treeview control.
And i am happy you released a component i waited for 4 years ;-)
Thanx for your effort!
And i am glad i do not have to post my suggesstions, as anything that came to my mind is already in your ToDo-List :-)
Just one thing to add:
Renaming a playlist with modifiers (like shift or alt) does not work if the combination of modifier+key is set as a shortcut (works in the original playlist manager)
edited typo
Thank you!
I was also waiting for something simple like this. Actually I'm still
wondering why it was never implemented by default.
Anyways if you allow me one wish:
If I click a folder with multiple folders/playlists in it, will it be possible that
all songs from all playlists and subfolders will be listed in the playlist view some time?
Edit: Also to choose multiple playlists with ctrl and providing the same behaviour as
described above.
I noticed something when changing between two panels (In CUI, at least) - each panel has to be configured separately. If you decide to move the panel inside your config, all trees are lost and playlists are put in the "Default" folder again. Would it be possible to create different configs or something, to save one configuration and load it in a new panel? Woah, I hope that made sense... I don't know whether it's intended behavior, but it was kind of annoying.
I have more than seventy playlists at the moment. Playlist Organizer makes it a lot easier to handle them, so thank you for this component.
Two possibly bugs I see so far:
- In CUI's toolbar context menu Playlist Organizer appears twice in the subcategory 'Panel'.
- I can not complete the creation of a new folder in the expected manner: I choose from foobar's main menu View, Playlist Organizer, then with a right-click on it "Create new folder", type a name but this procedure I cannot complete because the plugin does not react to pressing 'enter'. With 'escape' the Playlist Organizer is closed. However if I recall it, the newly created folder is existing. I deleted all keyboard shortcuts in foobar including the default ones, but this does not change this behaviour.
foobar2000 1.0.3, Columns UI 0.3.8.5
Thanks alot for this component, been waiting for years.
Just a few few things which i noticed/would be happy if they got implemented:
- most importantly: right now drag and drop of items from a playlist (playlist view) to the playlist organizer does not seem work
- ability to select multiple folders/playlists with shift or ctrl (for batch drag & drop)
- ability to rename folders/playlists with F2 key
- confirm rename with enter
- ability to remove folders/playlists with del key
- some kind of indicator whether something is a folder or a playlist would be nice
- ability to hide item count
- the item count of the library viewer selection playlist doesn't seem to be updating when browsing the library
But that is just nit-picking, all the functionality is there. Thanks again.
this procedure I cannot complete because the plugin does not react to pressing 'enter'
Confirmed. The component does accept the new name if you click elsewhere, but pressing Enter is the more intuitive behavior.
Looks good so far, i like the idea.
A few suggestions:
-custom color for playing playlist.
-clicking options like those used on other playlist managers.
-selecting a panel creates a dotted rectangle on mouse down, and highlights on mouse up. behaviour should be the same as other components.
-pressing enter completes rename operation.
-pressing F2 enters rename operation.
A couple bugs:
-text always seems to be clipped by a few pixels on the right of the title. most noticeable with w's.
-panel appears twice in columns ui layout editor.
-dotted rectangle sometimes breaks and takes on strange colors.
Thanks everyone for the test. I have updated the
to do list (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#Change_Log) to account for bugs and planned improvements.
A new version is available
here (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip), with fixes of the following issues :
- Link to this page from the preferences page (Help button)
- Fixed bug in managing (Enter/Delete) keys for label editing
- Make the matching (at startup) of tree content vs. actual playlists more intelligent (usefull for utilization of the popup window)
- Fixed panel appearing twice in column UI layout
Please note that using foo_plorg as a standalone (popup) window may lead to loosing part of your playlists organization if some changes (addition, deletion, reordering, ...) are applied with other playlist managers while the window is closed. I tried to make the window startup process more intelligent but it is by nature limited. I would recommend that you use it as a "permanent" panel or UI element rather.
There is some requests.
Playlist name area is not fully. Because playlist name is curtailment in right few pixel.
Please support "Themed appearance" that same columns playlist and library tree. This panel now support only simple color.
In short, Make looks same as Windows 7's explorer like.
Sorry my poor english.
Thank you.
-------------------------
| Playlist
-------------------------
If you double click he empty region after the playlist name the playlist doesn't get activated even though it is selected
...
- the item count of the library viewer selection playlist doesn't seem to be updating when browsing the library
Those two bugs are now fixed. A new version is available
here (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip).
Thank you for this great component! A decent playlist manager was the only thing I missed since coming back to DUI. Looking forward to "double-click = activate & play"
Thanks for the new version, now just missing drag and drop and it will be perfect.
This component should get some kind of award for the best component name.. "foo_plorg"
looking forward to "double-click = activate & play"
If this should get implemented then please optional.
Thank you for the update, "Enter" works fine now to complete the creation of new folders.
I am still in a fret that Playlist Organizer can be added as a panel to the (CUI's) toolbar, see my first post in this thread. With the older version it appeared in a subcategory "Panels" twice, with the current once. Is this really intended?
Great! I was looking forward for this as well.
I noticed two minor bugs
- When using the custom background highlight color option, even without making any color change the highlighted text becomes black, using reset fix/restores the original color.
- After clicking, if there is a playlist in the first level/in no folder, the highlighted area goes beyond the "name rectangle".
F2K 1.0.3
Also it seems that the highlighted region color doesn´t disappear after a click in an empty space as in the playlist manager, I really don´t know if it makes any difference to someone but I thought of posting it anyway.
I was going to suggest the same idea as SpaceAgeHero, great to see it in the to do list
foo_plorg is supposed to mimic the standard colors behaviour (just like other components) unless there is a bug.
controls (nodes) doesn't follow system (vista/7) style
NEMO7538, a few people have mentioned the component does not use the new TreeView from Vista/7. I'm guessing based on your quote and that it is not on your to-do list, the style of TreeView is intentional and not going to change. Yes/no?
Anyway, I like this component and look forward to it maturing. An idea I'll throw into the mix is being able to access the
Control context menu when right-clicking a folder.
a few people have mentioned the component does not use the new TreeView from Vista/7. I'm guessing based on your quote and that it is not on your to-do list, the style of TreeView is intentional and not going to change. Yes/no?
I will have a look but will need support for testing as I don't have Vista/7 myself.
An idea I'll throw into the mix is being able to access the Control context menu when right-clicking a folder.
That should already be the case ... can you elaborate?
the treeview of album list in foobar2000 is also not like the win7 treeview, so i think this depenting on foobar?!
nope. album list just needs updating as well. open file>preferences to see the difference.
An idea I'll throw into the mix is being able to access the Control context menu when right-clicking a folder.
That should already be the case ... can you elaborate?
He does not mean "when right-clicking a playlist" (where it is already the case) but "when right-clicking a FOLDER".
I guess accessing the control-context-menu on folders will not make sense before "Generate superset of contained playlists when activating a folder" from the ToDi-List is implemented.
Sorry for coming up with this (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=80705&view=findpost&p=703890) again:
Is the
keybord-shortcut-behaviour intended?
Renaming a playlist with modifiers (like shift or alt) does not work if the combination of modifier+key is set as a keyboard-shortcut (works in the original playlist manager where keyboard-shortcuts only operate in normal mode (non-renaming) ).
Whenever I right-click somewhere in the Playlist Organizer area, then click somewhere else in Foobar (Left or right clicking doesn't matter), I get a CUI context menu:
Has anyone else experienced this?
An idea I'll throw into the mix is being able to access the Control context menu when right-clicking a folder.
That should already be the case ... can you elaborate?
Specifically right-clicking a folder node rather than a playlist, such as the highlighted selection in this screenshot (http://i44.tinypic.com/2a7vdqd.gif).
Whenever I right-click somewhere in the Playlist Organizer area, then click somewhere else in Foobar (Left or right clicking doesn't matter), I get a CUI context menu:
Has anyone else experienced this?
Yeah, it happens to me too.
Can it be developed to have the same functionality as playlist_tree_mod?
Probably not ... what kind of functionalities are you thinking of that are not provided by autoplaylists?
Renaming a playlist with modifiers (like shift or alt) does not work if the combination of modifier+key is set as a shortcut (works in the original playlist manager)
I'm not sure I understand the point. Why do you need modifiers to rename a playlist? Can you explain?
Whenever I right-click somewhere in the Playlist Organizer area, then click somewhere else in Foobar (Left or right clicking doesn't matter), I get a CUI context menu
I cannot reproduce this one ...
BTW, I Have posted
a new version (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip) with some bugfixes and new features that you can check in the
change log (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#Change_Log).
The new version includes a tentative Vista/Seven style tree, an option to activate on single click, to play on double click (See preferences page) and another option to hide the item count.
You can see the problem in action here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpyU5OtHWUs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpyU5OtHWUs)
When adding a Playlist Organizer panel to my tab stack, the problem doesn't seem to occur, though.
My layout in CUI is like this:
Horizontal splitter
---Vertical splitter
------Horizontal splitter
---------Playlist switcher
---------Playlist Organizer
------Artwork view
---Tab stack with playlists etc.
Renaming a playlist with modifiers (like shift or alt) does not work if the combination of modifier+key is set as a shortcut (works in the original playlist manager)
I'm not sure I understand the point. Why do you need modifiers to rename a playlist? Can you explain?
Well, i need [SHIFT] to write in capital letters
Example: Renaming to "playlist" works, while renaming to "Playlist" won't work if [SHIFT]+[P] is set as a keyboard-shortcut in the foobar preferences.*edit*: if you have set [P] as a keyboard-shortcut, renaming to "playlist" won't work either as the shortcut is executed...In cases like this i help myself with [Caps-Lock], but i was wondering if this is intended behavior in the rename-mode.
Foobars playlist manager and every other part of foobar disables keyboard-shortcuts in renaming-mode, so the problem didn't occur before.
BTW: thanx for 0.4 , "Activate on single click" is much more intuitive from my point of view
BTW: thanx for 0.4 , "Activate on single click" is much more intuitive from my point of view
From me also a big thanks! Wasn't expecting this feature to be added so quickly!
Foobars playlist manager and every other part of foobar disables keyboard-shortcuts in renaming-mode, so the problem didn't occur before.
Also NEMO7538's other component, foo_quicksearch, does (when typing search patterns), but not Playlist Organizer.
What I meant above whether this would be intended:

Thanks for the video. I didn't notice myself since I was within a tab. This bug is now fixed in
Version 0.5 (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip)Example:
Renaming to "playlist" works, while renaming to "Playlist" won't work if [SHIFT]+[P] is set as a keyboard-shortcut in the foobar preferences.
This is now fixed as well in V0.5
...
What I meant above whether this would be intended ....
Well .... if you place the panel on toolbar, that's what happens.
Well .... if you place the panel on toolbar, that's what happens.
My CUI layout the screenshots are taken from contains the Columns Playlist only, nothing else. Right-clicking the toolbar does not offer to add any of my panels (Album list, Artwork view, Bookmarks, Console, Explorer Tree, Filter, History, Item details, Item properties and Playlist switcher), only Playlist Organizer. My point was it shouldn't be offered in the toolbar's context menu in my opinion.
Thank you for v0.5, keyboard shortcuts are blocked now and it works very well.
Bug http://imgur.com/B4WFw.png (http://imgur.com/B4WFw.png)
And the Win7/Vista tree view does not have a dotted line with it
http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/TreeViewVista.jpg (http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/TreeViewVista.jpg)
The foobar2000 preferences implementation is not 100% accurate as well
Play on double click is bugged as well instead of playing the song in the playlist it starts the previously playing song again
This bug is now fixed in Version 0.5 (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip)
This is now fixed as well in V0.5
You are unbelievable fast. Rarely seen a plugin mature this quick! (and coming up matured already in 0.1) Great job
*edit*:
Play on double click is bugged as well instead of playing the song in the playlist it starts the previously playing song again
confirmed
+ single-clicking an empty area of the organizer activates the first playlist in the list (if "activate on single-click" is set)

Bug:
i have CUI element colours set to custom, but the line selection in the component is showing up half custom, half themed.

partly confirmed ;-)
- single-click an empty area is now fixed
- double click on
another playlist (Y) now plays the next song after the last played song (
in the last played playlist (X)), but it should activate and play the first(?) song of the
clicked playlist (Y)(for double-clicking the
same playlist (X) the next-song-behavior is actually a nice gimmick though)
I see ... it will be fixed in the next version.
Bug http://imgur.com/B4WFw.png (http://imgur.com/B4WFw.png)
And the Win7/Vista tree view does not have a dotted line with it
This should be fixed now in the
new version (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip), which also brings some other bugfixes and improvements (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#Change_Log) (in particular visual indication of playing playlist).
Please confirm the behavior on Vista/Seven. Thanks.
Another rendering bug
http://imgur.com/BZFEg.png (http://imgur.com/BZFEg.png)
Also when you double click the status bar to show now playing it should highlight/selec the playlist of the now playing item
The themed mode under Win 7 doesn't seem to work as well
Thanks
PS: the tree view seems ok under Windows 7
This should be fixed now in the new version (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip). Please confirm (also for the theme) as I don't have Vista nor Seven. Thanks.
I have also added an option (disabled by default) to make the playing playlist visible upon activation. Please also confirm that it works as expected.

That is fixed as well provided that you have chosen the "Activate on single click" option. Otherwise the playlist won't get selected but only made visible in the tree.
Look at this new section (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#Visual_Indication_for_playlists) in the help page.
yup it is all fixed now thanks
but the themed mode on windows 7 is still not working i.e. skinned selection frame
Also just a suggestion wouldn't it be better to move all preferences to the preferences page instead of the context menu?
Why does the foo_plorg panel flicker twice really fast each time a playlist is selected? It seems to happen only sometimes when "Activate on single click" is disabled, but every time when it is enabled.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Thanks for the updates. Just wondering if this red-dotted line is intentional. It appears when i click and hold on a playlist/folder.
The problem is aesthetic since i dont have red configured anywhere in my foobar or windows color settings.
Would be nice if it did follow the colors i configured.

I may look at supporting the theme .. but not in a near future.
Regarding the preferences, some are left in the context menu in case you want to have several instances and they are specific to each instance, while those from the preferences page are global.

I will investigate at some point in time.
Thanks for the updates. Just wondering if this red-dotted line is intentional.
.....
I see ... it will be fixed in the next version. In the meantime, you can just set black & white as custom colors, the red should disappear.
BTW, I have uploaded Version 0.9[/b] (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip) which fixes the red dotted line issue and also introduces full drag & drop capabilities (e.g. with other foobar windows or other applications).
I've seen in the forums that Foobar, unlike Itunes and Winamp, is a playlists based player. For that reason I think foobar must have a powerful tool for playlists management.
I Like your plugin, but here are a few suggestions:
- 1: When You select a folder or a playlist, the "F2" shortcut to edit It isn't working (accessibility issues)
- 2: Imagine that I have a lot of playlists (It makes sense in a playlists based player), and I have a lot of folders.
---- 2.1: If I change from Columns UI to Default UI. Result, I've lost all the folders and the playlists order (unless I return to Columns UI). That is an undesirable behavior.
---- 2.2: If I accidentaly delete the element, again, the data will be gone, lost.
What I suggest You, is to not store the folder data in the element configuration. Store It in the plugin configuration, another file or folder.
Maybe You can store the folder's names in the plugin configuration, and store folder's ID in playlist as a property using the playlist properties API
//! Extension of the playlist_manager service that manages playlist properties.
//! Playlist properties come in two flavors: persistent and runtime.
//! Persistent properties are blocks of binary that that will be preserved when the application is exited and restarted.
//! Runtime properties are service pointers that will be lost when the application exits.
//! \since 0.9.5

1. is already in the todo list and will be introduced inn the next version
2. It is not possible to use the playlist properties because the panel may have multiple instances. I am thinking of another solution to address the issue.
Here's an idea for a cosmetic feature in the treeview display. An option for the user to specify a 16x16 png/icon that would be rendered beside the name of any actively playing playlist instead of the rectangular box. Example: iPod View is the playlist that is playing in the pic...

Version 1.0 (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip) is now out and introduces a lot of new features and bugfixes, including titleformatting for nodes, reworked drag & drop operations, the ability to copy content across playlists, etc. .... Please also read the
documentation (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29) which is now complete, and provide feedback.
I love you. Thanks for your work on this great component.
Agreed! Now foo_plorg has everything what the original playlist manager is able to do and so much more!
when selecting an item it seems that a border is drawn first and then the selection background color is changed which should be instantaneous

You cannot (at the moment) .... the plugin inherits the default fonts from either CUI or DUI.
I have encountered another bug
Using CUI+PLORG+Filters. I have it set up so that there is a folder named 'Library' with 'Filter Results' and 'Filter Results (Playback)' playlist.
Using these steps
Start fb2k > Select another artist in filters other than the one selected right now and double click to play > select a different artist in filters
makes the 'Filter Results' playlist popout of the folder and to the bottom of the PLORG tree

oh yeah, miss that too!
ooh i missed the big jump to 1.0
this component is maturing so fast!
thank you very much for your work on this.
i've been waiting for ages for a good tree-based playlist organizer.

Still want to mention my previous post
when selecting an item it seems that a border is drawn first and then the selection background color is changed which should be instantaneous... just like in playlist modules
It seems that everytime I close and start foobar, my playlists suddenly move from their respective folders to folder called "new" (not created by me). Have I missed some option about saving configuration or is this a bug?
To be exact, I have folders called "genre" and "rating", in addition to "default", but my playlists keep jumping around. Might this be because I have last.fm radio on one playlist, which (I think) creates itself from scratch when starting foobar?
I have the newest version of foo_plorg.

new version (http://thx538.free.fr/Foobar/V1.0/Plorg/foo_plorg.zip) which also fixes a bug in the standard context menu activation.
A "New" folder is created only if playlists are found that were not in the tree the last time you closed the panel. It should not happen if you keep the panel permanently (even with last.fm radio).
A "New" folder is created only if playlists are found that were not in the tree the last time you closed the panel. It should not happen if you keep the panel permanently (even with last.fm radio).
That's kind of strange, since I'm not doing anything to the layout or playlists, just closing and restarting foobar. I've had five playlists for long time, and they stay in the "default" category, but everything created since I installed foo_plorg move out of their folders everytime to "new" category. Could it be possible that component is unable to save configurations due to some protection in Win7 and so it finds them as "new" everytime?
Strange.
EDIT: Actually, I checked the appdata\...\foo_plorg.dll.cfg and there seems to be outdated data. Should this be updated everytime or where does this component save its configs?
EDIT2: Deleted the config file, now all playlists go to "default"-category. All changes with arranging or making folders disappear when restarting foobar. Changing title formatting from preferences seems to work fine, and is saved to config file but the folders ain't.
Do you have any message in the console?
Do you have any message in the console?
Actually, it seems so. When starting foobar there is this:
Playlist Organizer: Error (Playlist [0-] unfound or name does not match) reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unmatched number of playlists while reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unfound tree configuration, trying to retrieve from last known configuration
Playlist Organizer: Reinitializing Treeview
I see ... try to remove the panel from your configuration while foobar is still active (Layout editing mode if you are using CUI). Then close foobar , restart and re add the panel and see if the problem persists. Watch for messages in the console at each step.
Please also check your administrative rights on your appdata\...\ folder and the date/time of foo_plorg.dll.cfg
I see ... try to remove the panel from your configuration while foobar is still active (Layout editing mode if you are using CUI). Then close foobar , restart and re add the panel and see if the problem persists. Watch for messages in the console at each step.
Well, that worked... kind of. When removing playlist organizer from layout, it says in console "Playlist Organizer: Last instance destroyed, Memorizing configuration" and saves current config properly in appdata\...
When I put panel back to layout, there is almost the same messages than before (only last one missing):
"Playlist Organizer: Error (Playlist [0-] unfound or name does not match) reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unmatched number of playlists while reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unfound tree configuration, trying to retrieve from last known configuration"
However, this reverts organizer to state it was in before removing from layout, so I could do my folders and arrangements at that point and it works. Any additional modifications (without removing panel again) are lost, as before when closing and re-startin foobar.
Well I don't know ...
if you are using CUI, the config. changes of panels should be written in foo_ui_columns.dll.cfg, or theme.fth if you are using DUI.
Check for your permissions and the location of these two files, or try to do a clean install.
First of all, thanks a lot for this nice piece of work!
I have one bug and one suggestion:
Bug: When I delete a playlist and restore it again (excellent feature BTW), it isn't restored to its original folder and position, but at the end of all playlists and folders.
Suggestion: It would be nice if playlists could be shown in the tree without being active in Foobar. I have some very large playlists that I don't listen to very often, and they take up a lot of memory when they're active.
To clarify this, a web browser is a good analogy: I have a lot of bookmarks but only a few open tabs in my browser. If I want to view a page, I click the bookmark and the page opens in a new tab. In the Playlist Organizer every bookmark equals a tab and vice versa. Or am I missing something?

Your suggestion does not make much sense as playlists need to be stored somewhere
Your suggestion does not make much sense as playlists need to be stored somewhere
Agreed, but they could be stored in a file so that they only consume RAM when they are activated? (Also, autoplaylists could be stored as only a query and sort pattern, which wouldn't take up a lot of space.) Maybe I expected another kind of program when I installed this plugin, but I think it's strange to create and organise many playlists but having them all active as tabs inside Foobar.
Does anyone else have thoughts about this?
if i'm interpreting you correctly, you're saying that all playlists listed in foo_plorg are also open in separate tabs.
if this is what you're experiencing, then it's because you're using a playlists tabs splitter.
replace the splitter with a straight playlist view and only the active playlist will be shown.
Sir, you have made my weekend! I was not aware of this option. Thank you!
I might be doing something wrong, but keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-P, Ctrl-F, etc.) don't seem to work when foo_plorg has focus: is this intended?

Not really but shortcuts were deactivated during rename operations... I will have a look for the next version.
Hey there.
I believe my question might be a bit dumb , however I am fairly new to foobar, been a Winamp user before.
While looking for a more advanced playlist manager , I came upon this one and I must say I'm loving it. The only thing that's been bugging me is the actions that happen on d&d of a .m3u playlist.
Using .fpl , if I select multiple playlists from outside foobar and drop them into the playlist organizer , they get a new separate playlist inside the organizer , one for each file selected. That's how I like it.
Doing the same with a .m3u ( what my library consists of ) , all the d&d items get dumped in a single playlist called New Playlist. That's not what I want.
So generally my question would be this : Is there a way to alter the drag&drop actions taken , or is there a way to mass convert my .m3u to .fpl? OR is there a way to tell the organizer which playlists to put inside which folder "the hard way" i.e. if each folder&its respective playlists are ever listed anywhere - go there and manually add new playlists?
I'm using CUI.
I'm afraid there is a limitation of the SDK which only recognizes .fpl as valid playlists, as indicated here (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#Note).
As you have guessed, m3u and other playlists formats are just processed as a bunch of files at the moment, and I am not aware of any possibility to circumvent it.
Thanks for this great component! This is exactly what I have been missing since I started using Foobar.
One request though:
Would it be possible to make it so that multiple playlists can be selected? Even if it would be just for moving purposes it would be quite handy, I think.
I get this message in console on foobar2000 startup:
[21:36:49] Columns UI/Tab stack: Warning: Playlist Organizer panel was visible on creation! This usually indicates a bug in this panel.
EDIT: Playlist Organizers Preferences broken in foobar2000 v1.1 beta 1?
... Playlist Organizers Preferences broken in foobar2000 v1.1 beta 1?
That is now fixed in the new version.
Please use the component updater with V1.1 (or redownload form first post) and confirm. Thanks.
Thanks for the fix, Captain Nemo!
I still get this message in Console:
[11:53:26] Columns UI/Tab stack: Warning: Playlist Organizer panel was visible on creation! This usually indicates a bug in this panel.
Does that mean anything serious?

I don't think so ...

btw, is it part of your roadmap to display the categories (at least at level #0) as tabs?

No ...
Please check this page (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29) for help and additional information.
why don't you add "the Background transparent" function, it's better that we can write code , like the panel stack spillter, like cui ,and so on
Any plans to allow more Title formatting options for display as when creating playlists for CD Burn for car use it would be useful if as well as number of tracks I could display size to ensure don't exceed CD capacity.
Hi,
I was using foo_run with foo_runcmd.dll to open a specific playlist with a button.
After installing foo_plorg it doesn't work anymore.
I'm guessing the path is altered?
Anyone have a clue?
cheers r3v0
Anyone have a clue?
Might be the same problem described here (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=80705&view=findpost&p=708651).

Ok, thanks for pointing that out.

First of all: many thanks to this awesome plugin! One of the most useful and handy components...
One question or feature request:
Is it possible to display the total length of a playlist (as with playlist-switcher component)? so for example
[-] Folder
Playlist1 (8)........................... 1:25:12
Playlist2 (3).............................. 17:23
so in this example Playlist1 contains 8 items with a total time of 1:25:12 (sum of the length of containes tracks) and Playlist2 contains 3 items with a total time of 17:23...
Is this possible with current playlist organizer (then i have overlooked it, sorry)? If not, could that please be added as new feature? Would be very nice.
another feature-request: Could folders be displayed in another textcolor as playlists?
Thanks again for this compnent!
Kumbbl
Is it possible to display the total length of a playlist (as with playlist-switcher component)?
Not at the moment. I've added it to the todo list.
another feature-request: Could folders be displayed in another textcolor as playlists?
Not planned.
Nemo7538 as well as total length could you maybe add Size to the TODO list please as posted earlier would be useful for burning CD's and would allow me to drop playlist switcher completely for you component.
Hello, is it possible to display the tracks inside the playlists like
|%node_name%|playlist_name%|%filename_ext%
for drag´n drop selections of tracks directly from/to a playlist to/from the playlist viewer, the album list or from other playlists to a certain point (i.e editing/moving/reordering/etc)
(sorry for the difficult explaining).
Other uses:
- Select/start playback of a playlist from a later point (double-clicking the track that might start?).
- Reorder tracks in a playlist without switching the playlist viewer.
- Add tracks from the album list to a point of a playlist.
Thank you for your awesome component and for taking the time to read
I found a small bug with autoplaylists:
When I generate an autoplaylist by using the Media Library Search, the playlist in the Playlist panel has the option Autoplaylist properties in the right-click menu.
But if I generate an autoplaylist by right-clicking on, for example, the name of an artist in the Album List and then selecting Create Autoplaylist, there is no option Autoplaylist properties.
Works fine here with the Current Foobar.
What version of Foobar?
terry
Right-click action in layout editing mode on plorg is not possible here.
Sorry, somehow it works now that i started foobar from new.
Ah it happens only if you've put it into an empty box, then again try to right-click. Maybe not really important.

howdy.
I like the component, but two things makes me nervous.
1. if I delete a playlist from somewhere inside the tree, the cursor jumps to the top playlist.
it would be nice if it stay in place and just select the playlist before the deleted one.
2. if I drop a track from playlistview inside an other playlist in foo_plorg (via Strg) the cursor jumps to this playlist, but I want stay in source playlist.
Is that possible or did I miss something?
cheers m.

Those requests have been fulfilled in the new version (actually the playlist after the deleted one for musack's request).
Check the context menu:
Options-->Show Playlist ... to display playlist duration or size.
The variables
%playlist_duration% and
%playlist_size% are also available in the titleformatting string (Preferences Page).
Please also note that
%children_count% has been changed to
%count% and is now available for playlists as well. You may have to change your titleformatting string accordingly.

Great thanks for the mod gives me what i need but not fully automated
Would it be to much to ask if in next ver if possible you could select under options> show playlist> combinations ability to select more that one of the options available i.e. Items & size
Anyway many thx for this

I'm sorry, I must have missed your reply. Thank you for changing the name - the two terms are indeed confusing. It would be nice if you could also add the Sort option to the (now-called Lock properties) dialog. Thanks!
I might be doing something wrong, but keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-P, Ctrl-F, etc.) don't seem to work when foo_plorg has focus: is this intended?
This was indeed the case, but with CUI only. It should be fixed now in the new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg). Please confirm.

That is done as well in the new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg), but there is no way to separate the sort option from the rest. Sorry.
Thanks! You're really on a roll
I've been using this component for a while now, and just upgraded to version 1.6
I'm using DUI, and while it works great, I'm still having trouble using keyboard shortcuts (i.e. Ctrl+F) when it has focus.
I see you have fixed this issue for CUI, but I'm wondering whether you were aware that it still persists in DUI.
Thanks.

I cannot reproduce any problem here with keyboard shortcuts using DUI.
Ctrl+F (if mapped to Edit->Search main menu entry, which is the default shortcut) refers to "Playlist Search" and is only available if the playlist view has focus (which may be questionable but has nothing to do with foo_plorg) . The menu entry is grayed out otherwise, which explains that the shortcut don't work. You can try the standard Playlist Manager which behaves the same way.
Please provide other examples if shortcuts are not working with DUI.
Sorry, my mistake about the Playlist Search shortcut.
Say for example if I press Alt, when I release the key, the focus goes back to foo_plorg. With other components (and other programs), when releasing the Alt key, the focus will remain and give access to the file menu.
It's not that big of an issue though, as I can still use Alt as a normal modifier key (i.e. Alt+F simultaneously).

Yes adding %count% to preferences/nodes and using size gives me exactly what im after ..thx again
A feature request: Display customizable icons next to each item, depending on if it is a folder, a playlist, or an autoplaylist. It would make it much easier to distinguish normal playlists from autoplaylists in this manner.

Edit: I meant
fixed as in showing the correct number of children, I know I can get rid of the question mark using [ ].

maybe a dumb question: what is shared selection mgmt? Thanks for info...
Shared selection is the selection of tracks that is shared across UI elements or panels. As a consequence of supporting it in foo_plorg :
- If you use the "Selection Properties" UI element in default UI you will notice that it is now refreshed when the selected playlist changes in foo_plorg.
- Similarly (but more subtle), if you use foo_quicksearch and select a playlist (with one item ...) in foo_plorg, you will notice that keyboard shortcuts mapped to "quicksearch for same ...." actions are now working, which was not the case in previous versions of foo_plorg.
The Alt Key behavior should be fixed in the new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg), which also introduces shared selection management. Please redownload or use the built-in updater.
Thank you for the update. However, it's still not possible to use Alt+F4 to close foobar2000 when the component has focus.

When ctrl+dragging+dropping a song from the Playlist View into a playlist in plorg, is it possible to not have the destination playlist selected? It's a pain to constantly have to select the playlist I was originally on over and over again.

Awesome. Great plugin, btw, thanks for the work.
There is some irritating behaviour when renaming playlists/folders with keyboard-shortcuts:
If you activate playlists on double click ("activate on single click" not selected in the options):
- "Rename" by context-menu works on the selected playlist/folder
- "Rename" by keyboard-shortcut only works on the active playlist
Is this behaviour intended?!
I found myself renaming the "wrong" (active) playlist using the shortcut since i got used to the fact renaming works on the selected playlist using the context-menu...
- "Rename" by context-menu works on the selected playlist/folder
- "Rename" by keyboard-shortcut only works on the active playlist
Not exactly :
- "Rename" by context-menu works on the
playlist/folder indicated by the mouse position and then selects the playlist or folder
- "Rename" by keyboard-shortcut works on the
selected playlist/folder (because some playlist has to be chosen)
This is by design
Hi NEMO7538!
First of all I'd like to thank you for this great component!
One behavior problem. I don't know if this is discussed before, but every time i start/restart foobar (DUI)
the playlist organizer tab will be activated, not the tab that was open before close/restart, this is not happening on CUI.
I'm using foobar 1.1.1 beta 2 and foo_plorg 1.7 at the moment.
Can you fix this behavior?
Thanks.
...

foo_plorg just lives inside a tab, it does not control tabs
Hmm that's weird because this behaviour is present only with the foo_plorg component and not any other component and that's the only reason (for me aniway) to not prefer this component on dui over the official playlist manager.
Okey after many testing here is the thing: installed fresh foobar (DUI) added only three tabs 1. ESPlaylist 2. Album Art Viewer and 3. foo_plorg
and same thing on CUI.
After foobar restart, on DUI the foo_plorg tab gets activated everytime.
But in CUI the tab that was open gets activated (like it should).
So I'm not sure where is the problem?
Not exactly :
- "Rename" by context-menu works on the playlist/folder indicated by the mouse position and then selects the playlist or folder
right, sorry for messing this up
Not exactly :
- "Rename" by keyboard-shortcut works on the selected playlist/folder (because some playlist has to be chosen)
This is by design
Well for me "Rename" by keyboard-shortcut works on the
activated playlist (doubleclicked) and not on the
selected playlist/folder (single clicked) ["Activate on Single-Click" is unchecked in the prefs]
After double click activated and selected playlists are equal.
After double click activated and selected playlists are equal.
lol...i already figured out this fact as a solution on my own. just wanted to make sure, this behaviour is intended.
sorry, didn't wanna bother you...once more thanx a lot for a very useful plugin anyways!
hi,
is it possible to drag&drop MP3-Files from a playlist directly into another playlist, like it's possible in the foobar-Standard-Playlists-Manager?
greets,
surfjack
Yes (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_(foo_plorg)#Drag_.26_Drop_with_Ctrl_Key)
I only discovered this Excellent plug-in this week! Well done!
Question:
Is there anyway to have it work with Media Server - UPnP ? If so that would be killer.
Yes (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_(foo_plorg)#Drag_.26_Drop_with_Ctrl_Key)
Ah, okay, thanks!!!
The trick was pushing the ctrl-key just when the dragging cursor reaches the playlist-organizer, and not before (that seems to be reserved for selecting multiple items). The Foobar-Playlist-Manager recognizes if i want to place something in between or copy something into, thats why i've been confused.
Thanks for your support!

(1) Feature request: Add an option to disable a folder node from automatically expanding from a collapsed state when one of its playlist nodes is activated.
I have a folder node containing Facet, Filter, iTouch Remote Selection, and iPod View playlists which are all automatically activated by their associated components. I'd like it so when those components do activate any of those playlists their folder node is not automatically expanded from its collapsed state.
(2) If a node is a folder, is it possible to display the aggregate item count within all playlists of that folder node? If not, consider that a feature request.
I have a folder node containing two auto-playlists. One displays items that do not have an %added%tag, and another displays items that do not have ReplayGain. I usually have the folder node collpased because these are just "maintenance" playlists. Ideally I'd like the folder node to display the number of items in both playlists so I know there are items not tagged with ReplayGain or a particular tag.
I'm still getting the following message in the console:
Columns UI/Tab stack: Warning: Playlist Organizer panel was visible on creation! This usually indicates a bug in this panel.
Core (2010-11-05 10:46:52 UTC) foobar2000 core 1.1.1

This plug is awesome and has saved me a valuable row in vertical space, and also allowed me to organize my playlists a LOT better, so thank you for the amazing work.
One small bug: when a playlist is too long, it gets ...'ed, and when hovering the full playlist title shows up, which is all awesome and exactly what I want :3 but when the playlist is too long and gets ...'ed, but it's because of the number on the right, then the hover behavior doesn't work.
Uhm, my explanation seems messy, so here is a picture instead:
hi there,
thanx for foo_plorg. enjoying it more from release to release.
like to make one suggesstion for improvement. it would be nice to select a folder & gettin displayed all tracks from the folders containing playlists.
so make the folder itself a playlist. is that possible for future releases?
hollito
so make the folder itself a playlist. is that possible for future releases?
I need this too
Absolutely fantastic component!
It would be even better though - I think - if it were possible to select multiple playlists at the same time. Not necessarily for playing them all at once, but mainly for moving them around. Sometimes I need to move a group of ten playlists from one point in the tree to another and I have to move them all individually. It would be great to be able to do that in one fell swoop.
Would a feature like that be doable?

I've added the fix to the todo list

Hardly feasible for technical reason. Sorry.
Hi Nemo
Great plugin. BIG THANKS for this.
After playing around with it, it has great potential. May I suggest some new features :
This is a picture of a panel with plorg showing my current lists with some tweak:
Thanks for taking into consideration,
BTW, i tried $if($strcmp(%node_name%,'recent'),$rgb(155,155,155)%node_name%,) : color $rgb() does not work.
I've added item 4/ (%lockname%) in the todo list.
Not so sure about your other requests.
For item 3/ I would recommend that you place the relevant playlists into a folder and keep it closed.

Hello Nemo,
thanks for your response.
Nice workaround suggestion for 3/. I created a folder named "hidden".
As the main goal of this plugin is to organize playlists, maybe you could add a rule for newly created/loaded playlists to go to a specific folder ?
eg "if name starts with quicksearch, put playlist in "Search" folder. With use of titleformat, we could do what we need
Item 6/ would be a great help for the whole foobar community. IMHO it should be in core foobar. No-one seems to care since CW Bowron left. Too bad
Thanks again for taking into consideration
Hi, and thanks for this great plugin. I've also been looking for something like this for some time for managing my playlists.
A little request:
moving tracks from playlist to playlist is very much possible using [Ctrl]. But I personally like the management style from playlist tabs, i.e. you can do everything one-handed (on a desktop, using a mouse).
So, is it possible to make it an option keyboard control for moving files? Something like:
Option: "Assign keyboard modifier for moving tracks between playlists: [dropdown box] Default (mouse hover) / (key 1) / (key 2) / ....."
Just suggesting......
Anyways, great work!!!!
edit: nvm, i see i have to hold ctrl to drag from palylist to palylist
i would just delete this post if i knew how
anyway
THANKS NEMO, great plugin
in summation:
cant drag+drop songs into playlists
Yes, you can
Use
Ctrl+right-mouse for dragging into playlists... BTW: this is described in the help of Playlist Organizer...
Nice plugin!
I´m very used to delete playlists with middle click in playlist switcher,is very fast, could you implement this feature in plorg?
Thanks!
This is a very nice plugin and I have been using it for a couple months, with great success....
Until today, I used Windows system restore to resolve a completely unrelated issue. When I opened foobar2000 after the restore none of the playlists were in the folders. They are all situated in bewitched folder called 'New.
I would just sigh and start to reorganize everything, but that will simply take too much time since I have 316 playlists, of which many I have to look up into which folder I should drop them. If it takes let say 1 minute per playlist it would take me over five hours!
I looked at the configuration file with notepad, and I saw that inside there everything was still neatly ordered with the <F></F> and <P></P> tags. But it doesn't show it like that in foobar2000, and no matter how I tried it won't read in the data from the .cfg. I tried reinstalling the plugin and removing the .cfg file, let the program generate a new one and then copy paste all the playlist information from a backup. However when I do the latter all it gives me is an error stating that the cfg is corrupted.
don't want to waste those five hours drag and dropping playlists in foobar2000, EVEN I have something better to do.

Roll back the system restore to the point that the playlists were correct, then use the *foo_jesus* plugin to back up the good foobar configuration (copy the backup zip file to your desktop), perform the system restore again, then restore the foobar backup created by foo_jesus from the zip file..?
System restore was the thing causing the problem, and I reverted back to a time where the playlists were perfectly fine.
and foo_jesus didn't work as foo_plorg won't load the configuration, for some reason it completely ignores it and places all the playlists in folder called 'New'.When I jumble the playlists around and put them in different folders and then shut down foobar2000, delete the config file, open up foobar2000, it still shows the jumbled around playlists. As if it completely ignoring what it says in the config.
And equally important, it also doesn't put new data into the configuration file, no matter how much playlists I do put in folders the config stays like this:
Ñ="²ÄõF€1–æ’¼ õ[ !'ÜBF$nâ Äýæ Ñcõi%ßN»05–Üedó+ %node_name%$if(%is_folder%,' ('%count%']',) *ž§A¡² kmk thAoBL¢xi„D5ñÈ }

Have you checked the read/write permissions for the foobar program and application data folders?
Yes, and all the permissions are correct. The strange thing is that is does edit and read the configuration file, but completely ignores the part about the folders and playlists within those folders. Or nodes, as it is called here.
And I have also checked: any manual change (that is, using notepad and typing information in myself) in the configuration file, no matter how subtle will cause foobar to display an error that the configuration file is corrupted. I don't know if this is related, however.
Also copy-pasting working configuration files does work, but it still doesn't load the information about the playlists and playlist folders.
Note that I have done system restores before with this component installed, and it caused no such problem.
bump. I'm giving it one more day, but otherwise I have to do this manually. What I'm afraid of however is that this will happen again.
A new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg) has been uploaded, please check the changelog (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#Change_Log) for details.
Current version
1.8, released on 2010-10-21
Huh?
Current version
1.9, released on 2011-04-15
What?
When you first made your announcement, we all downloaded 1.8 and not 1.9. Just a little confused is all.
Sorry, please get the latest version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg). You may need Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84).
Reason for edit: The 32 bit redistributable needs to be installed event on a 64 bit system.
Failed loading with 1.1.6. beta 5 on my side
Works fine here.
Core (2011-04-15 12:17:56 UTC)
foobar2000 core 1.1.6 beta 5
Windows 7 x64 SP1.
1.9.1 doesn't load for me with foobar 1.1.5 on windows 7 x64. I installed the C++ package you linked to a few posts up as well.
Error Message:
Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll

Sixth Street: Which runtime did you install?
You need to install the 32bit runtime, even if you are on a 64bit windows, methinks - that's the way it worked for me.

Yup that worked. Needed the 32bit runtime. Thanks to all for troubleshooting!
Would not load for me, either. Running Foobar 1.1.5 on XP (32 bit) platform. Please help...

Is this before or after installing the required MS package as per documentation?

since I use drag'n'drop of music tracks really frequently, holding CTRL every time to target a playlist is nonsense. If someone finds that feature useful, could there at least be an option to reverse drag and drop behavior (Left mouse to drop a selection to playlist; Left mouse+CTRL to create a new playlist)?

yes, this would be fine.
I've added the point to the todo list "Get rid of Ctrl key and merge it's behavior (adding the dropped content to a playlist) in normal operation"

great! Don't know if it was mentioned before, but vertical padding of items/duration/size text needs a fix, it's 1 pixel higher than playlists.

Same problem here with foo_plorg & foo_quicksearch. Worked fine prior to latest version.
Please read the thread (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=80705&view=findpost&p=752989) before posting
The reason is that foobar2000 isn't a 64-bit program.
Doesn't matter if your Windows is x64, you will need the x86 runtime to be able to use the components with foobar2000.
Get the correct runtime from first post and it will work fine.
Wrong edit (Version 2.0 not ready yet - Reverted to 1.9.1)
Please do not use version 2.0 if you downloaded it, revert to 1.9.1
I have massage after set v 1.9.1: "Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll

Now implemented in the
new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg). The Ctrl key has no more effect and its behavior is implemented in standard drag&drop operations.

Foobar v 1.1.6
Windows XP SP2 32
Please give old version.
The required dependency is 4 meg. Is it really a problem to click on a link and install? Keep in mind that, oftentimes, program authors may not want to support old versions. Guess you can sit and wait for someone to supply you an old version, you can follow the simple requirements of the current version or just use google and source the old version yourself, or repeat the same message again.
I found a bug with 2.1
I select a playlist where I want to copy a track to another playlist
then drag'n'drop the item on my target playlist
the number of items counts up, the source playlist stays active and selected.
Now I check the target playlist and click and it is magically filled with the complete content of the source playlist, or with itself.
The more I try to switch the more same items are added.
This happens mostly directly after copying.
If I wait some seconds it works methinks.
I suppose there is some background library action to be finished?
Maybe it's my fault - but in previous versions (with holding the Ctrl Key) it worked.
Now implemented in the new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg). The Ctrl key has no more effect and its behavior is implemented in standard drag&drop operations.

Thanks for the notification. It will be fixed in the next version.
Now fixed in the new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg).
Please redownload or use foobar builtin updater.
When I start foobar the console shows me:

I get no misbehavior or whatsoever though. Just to let you know.

Because of VS2010 ... and it was worth the added pain for the developer.

Compiled statically, I mean.
Compiled statically, I mean ...
I believe it is the best practice. Look here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235316.aspx) (last paragraph).

Because of VS2010 ... and it was worth the added pain for the developer.
Which pain did you have? Normally, it should be only a matter of switching the code generation from /MD to /MT. I made the last updates of some of my components already with VS2010 and static linking against the runtime library without any problems.
Just installed and no success to load the components.
Copy msvcp100.dll and msvcr100.dll to foobar2000 folder and try again... Maybe this will help.
Thanks, that solved the issue.
Yes, I'm aware of that. However, almost all foobar components use static linking because it is easier for the users...
There is a way around this: link to "generic" version-less runtime libraries. See http://code.google.com/p/xchat-wdk/wiki/InfoKK (http://code.google.com/p/xchat-wdk/wiki/InfoKK) for more information. I haven't tried this myself but I think that would be the ideal solution (though missing debug info).
I guess it's OK for users to install the runtime, it's not so hard when you get 'used to it'.
Thanks.
I moved the discussion here (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=88375)for convenience and to see whether we could establish a common policy.
Ops may want to move a few topics to this discussion.

He just cannot (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=80705&view=findpost&p=753236) understand this.
it would be nice if plorg could use Columns UI "Colours and fonts" themed / custom settings.
A new version (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg) is available, which plays nicer with facets current & playing selection.
Thank you very much for the new version. The behavior with Facets regarding the "Library Viewer Selection" (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=88410&view=findpost&p=754313) works flawlessly now.
Is there a reason the playlist order in foo_plorg doesn't necessarily correspond to the actual playlist order? I mean, regardless of subfolders or whatever, it's still a list of playlists from top to bottom, right? I had to switch back to Playlist Switcher because of this, since I use "go to next/prev playlist" commands in my setup. It's not a huge deal, but I'd rather use your plugin then Playlist Switcher because of the tree structure, so I'd just like to request that feature if it's possible.
I've added the point to the to do list (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_(foo_plorg)#To_Do).
first of all thanks for this great component.
I'm not quite sure, if the following feature request might be feasible with the sdk. could you implement a checkbox for each folder/playlist that makes the playlist invisible in other playlist managers like playlist tabs or drop down lists. this would be an easy way to manage backup or not used playlists.
Great component! I just decided to use this since playlists have been piling up...
One small bug:
- context menu shows up only after the second right click
And two small feature requests:
- ability to adjust indentation (I would like it to be smaller)
- better icons for "+" and "-" for folders
- looks ugly when using "dark themes" (DUI themes with dark background, e.g. dark blue)
Thanks.
Here's a weird one:
I have the Playlist Organizer in a tab along with the Album List viewer and Metadata.
When I go to the View -> Playlist Organizer menu item, it correctly selects and highlights the tab.
However, if I assign a keyboard shortcut to that very menu item (the shortcut appears in the menu), it opens up a separate Playlist Organizer window instead, with a completely different organisation of the playlists.
Is this a bug?

I'm using DUI. With the menu it definitely activates the current tab, but with a keyboard shortcut it opens a new window.
I'm using Esplaylist, but I previously was using the default playlist viewer and it did the same.
Basically, I'd really like to be able to consistently select the existing Plorg tab with a keyboard shortcut.
I'm sorry but I cannot reproduce ... I have DUI as well and everything works fine here.
Edit: Do you have shift+something as the keyboard shortcut? shift will open a new window.

Well, I did. Fixed now - thanks a lot!

Anything I could do to fix the bug? I'm using Win7 64bit with latest beta foobar (1.1.7b3).
Found out what's causing the context menu bug! It's foo_mouse_gesture.
Could you add an option to sort the playlists themselves in alphanumeric order, newest or w/e... and then a secondary option to carry this over into nests.
E.g.
I have 2 nests one called A and one called B.
Inside both A and B are tracks named D E and F.
First options sorts the nests A and B in order, second option sorts both A and B in order as well as D E and F or just D E and F.
A small request: can you make it so that the previously active playlist gets activated after deleting the current playlist, instead of activating the last added playlist? This is probably more intuitive for most users.
Feature Request: Would you add the option to auto collapse all other folder/tree when I expand a folder/tree?
This way when I have a lot of playlists (and I DO have a lot of playlists ) I don't need to scroll through them to find the playlist I want (when folders are expanded) or manually close the folders that I don't want to access/see their contents at the moment.
Thanks for the great work! This is an awesome plugin!
Thanks for this useful component!
I have feature request : would it be possible to monitor playlists files (organized into real physical folders) the same way as the Media Library does for audio files?
With a folder structure looking like :
-> Albums
---> Artist1
---> Artist2
---> ...
-> Playlists
---> Compilations
-----> Playlist1
-----> Playlist2
---> Genres
-----> Rock playlist
-----> Blues playlist
-----> ...
For example I store my media library on an external HDD (with my playlists in a specific folder).
I can use foobar2000 on any workstation to manage and listen to my "portable" Media Library.
That way, I will keep my Media Library uptodate everywhere with me but the playlists store on the HDD are not automatically updated inside foobar2000.
I should be possible to do this by just making a copy of foobar2000 user playlists folder (0000001.fpl, 000002.fpl, etc) but I would prefer a clean way to do this with an integrated component.
And I think foo_plorg seems to be the proper one to do that with some developments.
What do you think?
Not possible (or would require a huge amount of work).
Okay, I will try another way.
Maybe I can :
- create a portable version of foobar2000 on my HDD
- synchronize the Media Library to the external HDD
- synchronize the whole foobar2000 playlists directory (from my main computer) to the portable foobar2000 on the HDD
That way, I should keep both my media library and playlists uptodate on my HDD.
Sorry to disturb the topic...
Thanks for the great plugin !
I'd like to report a weird behavior : when I put 2 instances of Playlist Organizer's UI, the second uses a different tree (the flat, default one).
A picture is worth a thousand words :

Nemo,
I'm having some trouble with plorg/facets (See this post (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=88410&view=findpost&p=765406)). Speaking with Frank he told me that foo_plorg is the component that's crashing, he'd forward you the info so that you can take a look into the issue. Have you had the chance to look into it? I find both components, facets and foo_plorg quite good ones, so I wouldn't like to have to give up on one.
I have the crash reports that I've sent as requested by Frank, so if you need them just let me know.
Regards,
Alberto
I use Vista with Foobar 1.1.9, tried to install foo-plorg, latest version, but get this message:
"Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000."
i also did install
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64), but i still get the same error.
Is there a reason you installed the 64 bit version. Maybe that is the problem

NEMO7538, you didnt tell me if this behaviour is considered normal, or a bug. As for me, I'd love to have the trees syncronized in the several instances of the playlist organizer UI element.
It is a feature! Why would you open two instances with exactly the same treeview?
It is a feature! Why would you open two instances with exactly the same treeview?
Because actually in my case, the higher pane is much taller than the lower. It's the place where, through tabs, I browse my library and my playlists. Now sometimes, I want to see both my library (in a tall pane) and my playlists. To this puprpose, I re-added a Playlist Organizer instance in the lower pane. That's why.
If it's a feature, then I hereby make a feature request of beaing to sync 2 instances of PLO.
Are you too lazy to do the same work a second time?
Thanks for this component, I have come to use it as my only playlist tool, since it integrates seamlessly into my whole layout and has all features I could wish for.
One question about the looks: Is it somehow possible to exchange the icon indicator for folders (the little black triangle)? I have looked around but couldn't find a hint. If not, it is no big deal really; I'm just using a very dark layout and wanted to exchange those bits for something more visible. (I'm using CUI on latest foobar).
Is there any way to add the vertical padding between items and changing the font size?
I'm having the same problem as Jac74, except I don't use foo_facets. I'm not sure what causes it, but after a while, the graphical elements of my HUD remain stuck, as if the program crashes, but I can still change songs and press buttons and whatnot, even though the interface won't update according to my changes. Perhaps this is the fault of another plugin, though. Below is a list of my currently installed plugins. Anyone spot known crashware?

Yes I am. I have a bunch of playlists actually.
Can you make it so that when you click on the root folder it displays all the songs within the playlists of that folder?
Thanks,
tmac
How should that be possible at all? The playlistorg component is a playlistswitcher: you can organize your playlists inside a tree structure and switch between them. What you wishes is kind of paradox: you have a folder but wishes it to be a playlist. To say it in other words: your folder also had to be a real playlist visible in other playlist switchers - but then it is a playlist and not a folder.
Nevertheless, your desired feature although not possible as playlist switcher is realizable as library viewer: you could try the playlist tree mod component of fbuser.
Honestly, have a little imagination. My desired function is present in itunes, so I figured it might be possible with foobar.
I have no coding experience. So I'm dead in the water trying to do this myself, which is why I versed my request on the discussion board.
Thanks
Any chance of option for custom indentation? It uses too much space.
is there anyway to make the current playlist that is playing bold instead of having a rectangle around it?
Any progress regarding to plorg/facets compability fix yet? I'm really liking both of the plugins, just too bad they won't work together too well.

Hello Nemo,
I have the same problem as laite in post #79.
QUOTE (NEMO7538 @ May 22 2010, 20:06)
Do you have any message in the console?
Actually, it seems so. When starting foobar there is this:
Playlist Organizer: Error (Playlist [0-] unfound or name does not match) reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unmatched number of playlists while reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unfound tree configuration, trying to retrieve from last known configuration
Playlist Organizer: Reinitializing Treeview
Today I took some time to redo my foobar layout from the scratch and I discovered when this failure occurs.
I have a albumlist panel in my layout. When activating the filter to be able to quickly search in the albumlist I get the mentioned failure when starting foobar the next time. Unchecking the filter and restarting foobar solves the problem again.
Do you have any idea what is causing this behaviour?
I can provide a simple configuration for analysis if required.
Thanks and cheers!
Can you provide more information? Thanks
Oh, sorry. I thought it would be the same issue than mentioned by Jac74 and Frank, but perhaps it's a bit different after I read those comments again, although could be still related to that.
At any rate, the crash occurs in a following way. I'm playing music and then using facets to search and filter artists/albums/tracks. When I'm trying to add files to the playlist ("Send to selection playlist" or "Send to current playlist"), foobar immediately hangs after double-clicking/middle-clicking selection - current track keeps playing to the end but foobar is completely unresponsible to any action. So this occurs when a track is currently playing or paused; if there is no track playing, selection will be added to the playlist normally.
I didn't know which component was causing the crash at first, so I uninstalled all components until eventually finding out it was happening when both the playlist organizer and facets were installed.
For some reason couldn't replicate the problem when I tried a portable installation with both of the components installed and my basic interface being installed. However, I didn't however my full music library (which is quite big) to portable installation monitoring, only couple of folders, in case it would have any effect.
Thanks .... I'll have a look and hopefully provide a fix, but please be patient. I don't have much spare time atm.
Hi I started up foobar this morning and got this ... it looks like it has re-imported all my playlists into a folder called "new". Any idea why this would happen ?
Thanks

Can you please add an option to adjust the padding? There's way too much.

I just switched to SimPlaylist and since then there haven't been any crashes when using facets for filtering. Perhaps it has something to do with having an additional playlist - Library Viewer (playing) was added to the playlists after installing and using it - or to the different way of handling the playlists.
... Playlist Organizers Preferences broken in foobar2000 v1.1 beta 1?
That is now fixed in the new version.
Please use the component updater with V1.1 (or redownload form first post) and confirm. Thanks.
FYI- this console message is now back with V1.1.12 beta 6. Removing the existing panel, deleting the config file, and reinstalling the component with lots of stopping and restarting Foobar2000 between steps had no effect. I can't detect any functional problems - everything seems to work just fine despite the console message. Glad to provide more info if needed. Thanks for a great component!
As being asked by aeidein, is it possible to add a padding option between each playlist?
Also, I'm not sure whether this is skin related but I would love to see the dashed-line for the tree. Mine is kinda missing.

Which message ????
Oops - "Columns UI/Tab stack: Warning: Playlist Organizer panel was visible on creation! This usually indicates a bug in this panel."
Forget it
While I was updating a playlist from explorer (clicking on an m3u link), I realized what I had just clicked on was not what I wanted, so I clicked delete - what happened was my whole (over 2k items) was deleted!! I did get the backup but lost 30 mins of time.
I was wondering if you could add a delete confirm before just wiping out a playlist?
Thanks!
you should find a restore option on the context menu when you have deleted a playlist. it only exists for the current session though- you lose it when foobar is closed.
and from the main edit menu, you can undo changes made to the current playlist if you've accidentally overwritten it or deleted/added/moved items.

That's good news. I tired ^Z which works in the playlist, maybe you could make it work too. At least now I am OK if it happens again.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I seemed to having some problem with this component. Few days ago I just realized that all my playlists just moved to 'New' node and any additional node that I create/moved does not seemed to save after I restart foobar (exit normally). Sadly I could not recalled any significant changes that could cause such behaviour.
Below is the output I got from the console:
Playlist Organizer: Error (Playlist [0-] unfound or name does not match) reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unmatched number of playlists while reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Unfound tree configuration, trying to retrieve from last known configuration
Playlist Organizer: Reinitializing Treeview
Trying the following does not solve the issue:
- Removed the panel from Columns UI, restart, reinsert panel.
- Removed the config file foo_plorg.dll.cfg in the configuration folder.
- Removed all the playlists in playlist folder.
Hi,
I am not sure if I have foo_plorg actually working or not. I have downloaded and installed the .dll, and it appears in the component list in foobar. i have installed the VSC++ redist, and in file->preferences I can see an item (below playback) that says Playlist Organiser and it has some settings.
But I cannot seem to get the tree visualisation in foobar or any of the options that are part of the module. In the playlist panel the same options seem to appear regardless of whether the module is loaded or I remove it.
So I am just not sure if its not working, or if I am just not using it right.
Is there something else I need to do to activate it or use it?
I also downloaded the skin spotify, which already has the module built in, and there again I can't seem to see it...
I read the doco, but it didnt help... is there a 'start here' guide or something basic like that? I must be doing some basic step incorrectly.
Thanks for any help
Using this plugin with DUI. I have the Playlist Organizer in a tab. Every time I open foobar, the playlists tab is active, even though it's not the first tab in the stack, and even though when I closed foobar, I had a the first tab active.
Is there any way to prevent this?
Thanks!
Hi Nemo,
Thanks for this nice tool, I need these little modifications which will be useful for everyone:
Quick&Important/ Technical:
1-[Collapse All] context menu button, on both item title and empty area (General).
2-[Single Expand] tree switch option.
Quick/Aesthetic:
1-[Hide Lines] switch option.
2-[Hide Buttons] switch option
3-Enable tooltip for long folder titles.
------------------------------------------
These are some suggestions that will make this plugin perfect:
Suggestions/Technical:
1-Multi-Selction feature for mass moving for both Folders & Lists, which automatically and temporarily disables [activation on single click], or enables multiple lists activation.
2-[Hide list/folder & Undo hide] buttons, in case having multiple instances of plorg and want to assign each one for a specific view..Personal Llists, Auto Lists,....etc.
3-[Save/Restore] folder structure and other configurations.
4-[Show all contents] switch option, which makes all lists under a folder and subfolders visible in the playlist view (back to first suggestion/multiple list acivation).
5-Invidual title format besides the general format which overrides the last one.
Suggestions/Aesthetic:
1-Change padding size option.
2-Change font size option.
Thank you again, I really appreciate your work.
I would second the "3-[Save/Restore] folder structure and other configurations."... this would be indeed very helpful - IMO the most missing feature... but nevertheless: thanks for this great plugin - one of the best in general...
I tried to install this but on startup I get:
Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000.
This is in foobar 1.1.14a.
You probably need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package.
Go to the first post in this thread. Click on "this page". Find the "requirements" section and click on the link to find the C++ package.
Is it possible that foo_plorg keeps the same folder structure across all layouts in CUI?
For example:
I have problem if I make playlist "pl1" in folder "fl1" and then switch to another layout "pl1" will appear in folder "new" and "fl1" will not exist at all in that layout.

yes, same problem here - same for DUI... IMO this is currently the only drawback of this outstanding plugin...would be really helpful for usability if folder structure would be preserved between layout switches... thanks for offering this great stuff!

I asked for more or less the same earlier in this read, and the only answer I got is that it was a feature (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=80705&view=findpost&p=773211)...

Hello,
I would like to manage my media library only with my playlists.
I ripped all my CDs collection and have more than 500 playlists (*.m3u). But I think I missed something in foobar.
First, I wanted to manage my playlists with the "Album List", but it does not display them, just audio files. So, I can only access to my standard album. I have around 50 extra playlists which are only virtual album (compilation, best of...), and I can't access it.
I tried the "playlist organizer" plugin, but to be managed, a playlist has to be opened. It does not work like the "Album List" which monitors my audio folder. I loose all the folder structure, and it has to be done manually. If I close a playlist, it disappears from the view. I tried to open all my playlists. Foobar can not handle it. Apparently, it is the way how foobar manage playlists. When closed, the playlist is no more accessible and we have to open it again.
Basically, what I am looking for is exactly the same behaviour that the "Album List", but displaying only playlists, not audio files. Is that possible ? Is it a non sense ? Did I missed something ?
Thanks for you help,
Bellator.
I don't think you quite understand the purpose of each function.
The Media Library is simply a folder-watcher. Its database is being constantly retrieved and listed by the different Library viewers (such as the Album list). The regular playlists are just lists of tracks that were meant to be created, modified and deleted on a regular basis and has nothing to do with your Media Library. (The only exception are Autoplaylists, which use the Media Library's database and a criteria to constantly update their hits.)
I'd suggest introducing the ALBUM LIST (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Encouraged_Tag_Standards#ALBUM_ARTIST) tag to your library instead of relying on your *.m3u playlists. It would most likely solve all your problems with VA/Compilation/Best of etc. albums. You might have to update your Library viewer to handle the new tag, but it shouldn't be too hard. At any point, the wiki (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Foobar2000) (especially the titleformatting part) and the search function on these forums should be able to answer most of your questions from here.

I was sure of that

Ok. It is what I was thinking. Finally, the Media library is just a audio files browser. Currently, for each album I have its associated m3u playlist. I have done this because I have some devices (e.g. mobile phone) that only read m3u playlists and not directly audio files. It was much convenient for me to have the playlist with the audio files. My mobile phone, for instance, only display the playlists, including my extra playlists. Perfect for me.
I'd suggest introducing the ALBUM LIST tag to your library instead of relying on your *.m3u playlists. It would most likely solve all your problems with VA/Compilation/Best of etc. albums.
By ALBUM LIST, did you meant ALBUM ARTIST ? If so, I already added this tag to all of my files. From the tagging point of view, I followed the recommendations in order to have proper tags for the VA/Compile albums. I have no issue on this point.
You might have to update your Library viewer to handle the new tag, but it shouldn't be too hard. At any point, the wiki (especially the titleformatting part) and the search function on these forums should be able to answer most of your questions from here.
I am not sure to understand. I will still don't see my extra playlists, because only audio files are displayed via the Album list. And with the playlist organizer, I just can't open even my 500 playlists. Or maybe just open the 50 extra playlists, but it will be a shame that I will not have all my albums in the same view : original CDs in the Album list and my compile in the playlist organizer view.
May you suggest me to add the extra tag ALBUM LIST and set the Album List Views in order to display my files using the new tag. The extra "playlist" which will not be playlist anymore in this case. But is a single audio file can be displayed twice ? I am not sure to parse the ALBUM LIST value.
Or may you suggest that I duplicate audio files to create my own albums and tag with a proper ALBUM ARTIST tag in order to not mess with the original album. In this way, I can only use the Album list view. But it still a shame to duplicate audio files.
Thanks for your reply,
Bellator.
In short, no, you probably can't get something like a tree-based 'm3u playlist browser' per say.
The reason is quite simple: it does not make much sense to organize individual playlists linked to your files instead of the actual files themselves in your Media Library, at least as far as your PC goes. At any point however, you can export your 'internal' playlists (the ones you can see/edit in foobar) to external ones (*.m3u for example) which can be put on your phone. Note also that opening an external *.m3u playlist only imports the tracks to foobar's own format (*.fpl), leaving the original *.m3u file intact in my experience.
What I suggested was tagging the files within each of your 'special' playlists so foobar can distinguish between them without reliance on the actual *.m3u playlists. That would streamline browsing your Media Library in general and you could just recreate the *.m3u playlist at any time to accompany the files you put on your phone.
You might want to specify though what kind of 'special' playlists you have exactly. Most of them should be easily redeemed via proper tagging. For example an album with multiple artists on it should have an additional ALBUM ARTIST (and yes, ALBUM LIST was just a typo) tag with a value of 'Various Artists'. An official 'Best of...' compilation album from an 'Example' artist will simply have identical ARTIST(=Example) and ALBUM(=Best of...) fields among its tracks. If you want to retrieve your favorite songs from a certain artist in the future you can just set up a FAVORITE or RATING tag and so on.
For example I have a COLLECTION tag to distinguish between soundtracks of specific franchises/series easily. It is much more elegant this way in opinion and if I have to generate an external playlist to a portable device it only takes a few seconds to filter out the tracks I need to do so (I am using the Filter panel, which is just a different Library viewer):

Just a question by the way, does your phone support playing by directory structure? Because then you could just put each compilation into a separate folder (and foobar could do that for you automatically during the converting/copying process).
Ok. I got it. Finally it makes sense. The view can only deal with tag files. *.m3u playlists just do not have any tags. And the use of filter can easily show what we are looking for. Actually, it is exactly how I manage my photos.
Only the order of the songs could be an issue.
My phone supports folder structure. That's why I created a standard playlist for each of my album. But as you said, may I should "export" from foobar what I want to copy to my phone. Currently, I copy directly the files from the windows explorer.
So if folder structure is supported (and hopefully we meant the same thing) the need for *.m3u playlists can be bypassed altogether using the File Operations component. With it you can reorganize your files in practically any way you want, based on their tags.
To stick with my previous example, let's say I want to listen to my favorite songs from my Medal of Honor collection on my phone. The Filter panels help to select the files I need, then I have to define the pattern I want to structure my files after. In this case:
Medal of Honor\Medal of Honor Allied Assault\01. First Track.mp3
02. Second Track.mp3
...
Medal of Honor Airborne\01. First Track.mp3
02. Second Track.mp3
...
...
Which using titleformatting looks like:
%collection%\%album%\%tracknumber%. %title%
Obviously you can swap things around, like if you want to listen to a specific artist you can just define %artist% as root folder and so on. Once the files are on your phone you can just play them from the root folder. If your phone doesn't go into subdirectories you can just flatten the pattern to be only one folder deep.
I doubt ordering the songs would be much of a problem either. You can set the default order your tracks are sorted after and even if you move things around manually within a playlist/selection, their relative order can always be reflected by inserting %list_index% to the beginning of the filename of your songs.
Previous 6 posts are off topic. Maybe a mod. could split the thread.
NEMO,
I asked this a few months ago but got no reply so I'm trying agian.
Using this plugin with DUI. I have the Playlist Organizer in a tab. Every time I open foobar, the Playlist Organizer tab is active, even though it's not the first tab in the stack, and even though when I closed foobar, I had a the first tab active.
Is there any way to prevent this?
I'll add this to the todo list
Thanks!
And thank you for sharing this great component, it's very useful indeed

Well I 'm afraid i'm not able to change anything. Look here (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=81443).
That doesn't really explain why foo_plorg is always the active tab when I open foobar. Why is this happening?
Source code of plugin available?
Hi,
I am also using the plorg plugin and would appreciate it, if one could select more than one playlist with ctrl to drag&drop in the different folders. Just an idea I had...
Thanks anyway for the plugin!
David Zweistein
I wont use diffrent colors for playlists and folsers
Just switched from playlist switcher, great plugin I appreciate your work
great plugin! i know this isn't probably the right topic, but i've been wondering what plugins do you guys use to show recent history/most played tracks as playlists. i'm using foo_playcount and also tried to integrate foo_navigator, but that just creates a new panel (i don't want that). anybody know how can i create "recent history" and "most played" playlists automatically with real-time update? because drag&dropping the playlist into the foo_plorg would be the easy part. thanks so much for your responses.
libary>playback stats>recently played> hit the ... button>create autoplaylist will give you a start. Note the syntax of the query that created the tracks. More at Query Language (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Query_syntax)
All your requests can be served by autoplaylists.
thanks so much for your very fast reply. i managed to create both the autoplaylists and looking at the query language, there are many possibilities for my future playlists as well. the playlists are updating automatically, that's exactly what i wanted. many thanks!
I have started using this plugin and it works really well. There is a feature I've seen a couple of people ask but haven't seen any replies, so I'll ask again and see if it's possible. Can the plugin work so that you can play an entire folder?
For example, I make extensive use of autoplaylists to manage my musical mood swings. Let's say I have my Manager setup like so:
Rock (Folder)
- Rock (autoplaylist - Genre IS "Rock")
- Hard (Folder)
--- Metal (autoplaylist - Genre IS "Metal")
--- Hard Rock (autoplaylist - Genre IS "Hard Rock")
etc...
Right now I can play any of the specific autoplaylists, but I'd like to be able to play the entire Hard or Rock folders with their related sub-playlists as well. Can this be accomplished using this plugin or in some other fashion?
Thanks

OK, thanks for for the confirmation and for your work on the extension.
Is it possible to make a playlist out of a folder of playlists?
Thanks for the plugin!
I've got the problem that i can't drag'n'drop a file from the playlist to the outside of foobar (copy to desktop, move to a folder in explorer etc.) but this problem only exist if the way i move the file goes over the Playlist Organizer. If i change from Playlist Organizer to Album List or any other thing than there are no more problems.
Maybee my picture is better to understand, i marked the field that makes the problem with red color.

Yes it's a bug .... Added to the todo list
Please add a play option from within the playlist, preferably directly above or below the activate option, i.e. an activate and play. My intention is to use "foo_playlist_organizer" as a Shoutcast browser to play playlists downloaded from the site.
Foobar lacks a radio option and I am sure that if you could add this function it would extend the usefulness of this application immensely.
Double clicking on a playlist does that for me (activates and plays).

EDIT for clarity.

Thanks for the reply, I see the option under preferences. I guess I should start downloading shoutcast pls.
To be a further pain would it be possible to add an option for it to play, but not open up in the playlist (activate). It looks messy otherwise.
Hi,
Thanks very much for your work on the component. I'm not sure how much time you have for it now but I have a feature request anyway. Feel free to ignore it.
It would be nice if there was a way to customise where new playlists are places. Sometimes they seem to appear in a "New" folder and sometimes they just appear at the end of the root node. Either way, if for example you could apply a filter to place certain playlists in a certain folder, you could, for example, make all of the playlists created by the quicksearch panel appear in one folder. It could work from the title of the playlist, as you can make all the playlists created by quicksearch start with an asterisk.
Just an idea! Thanks again
How i can set difrent colors for folders and playlists?
When i have a playlist highlighted (whether playing or not) and i download and open a music file straight into foobar, the playlist gets completely wiped and replaced with what was just downloaded. Luckily it was a playlist that can easily be rebuilt but i have some playlists where i have carefully crafted the contents, so i do not wish to override these playlists accidently. Is there anything i can do about this?

Hi,
my musik laptop runs many weeks without a reboot and with foobar open.
foobar crashed during a pc restart after windows updates.
now all my plorg folder and playlist looks like some week ago.
is it possible to restore the last set before the crash?
when and where are the settings stored?
is it possible to make backups?
Thanks in advance

Foobar is telling me that foo_plorg is too old for the version of foobar I am using (1.2.9). I am using whatever version is available on component repository. I recently re-installed Windows and foobar, but prior to this I was using foo_plorg with 1.2.9 with no issues. It also says I could be missing a dependency. Is there a newer version of foo_plorg I don't know about or is it a dependency issue? What does foo_plorg depend on?
Maybe this.
From the documentation
Requirements
As of version 1.9.1 [2011-04-16]:
Foobar 1.1 (or newer) is required and Column UI 0.3.8.x (Optional). The component will not work with previous versions of Foobar.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package may also be needed if not already present on your system

Thanks, I think I'm missing MS Visual C++ 2010
No luck still. I am running foobar 1.3.1, Columns UI 0.3.8.8, and MS Visual C++ 2010, and foobar is still saying "This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000."

Hello,
[problem solved...]
thanks for the component.
For some reason, the playlist nesting hierarchy is lost every time I close Foobar. As I have over 60 playlists sorted into multiple folders, this is very irritating. Any ideas?

Is it possible to make foo_plorg display items, duration and size like the standard playlist manager does in the above image?
Would be really nice to be able to dock it inside the main window (instead of having a floating window). Kind of like Explorer's folder tree.
according to the component page, you can already do this.
It is available as either a Column UI panel or an UI element for the default UI
I have 2 questions though...
1. Is there a feature to display total of "filesize of playlists" at folder??
For example (expanded):
- FOLDER A [3 list] 3GB
--- PLAYLIST A 1GB
--- PLAYLIST B 1GB
--- PLAYLIST C 1GB
- FOLDER B [2 list] 4GB
--- PLAYLIST D 2GB
--- PLAYLIST E 2GB
For example (truncated):
+ FOLDER A [3 list] 3GB
+ FOLDER B [2 list] 4GB
OR is there any other codes that can be used at the Nodes "Title Formating" to display directly after the folder name
for that case, it expected is:
+ FOLDER A [3 list] (3GB)
+ FOLDER B [2 list] (4GB)
2. Is there setting to choose colour of the dropdown arrow? Because it is only visible on hover
I'm using dark theme, if possible I don't want to set bright color on this particular panel when others are dark
[!--sizeo:1--][span style=\"font-size:8pt;line-height:100%\"][!--/sizeo--]I use code box because it's not displaying correctly with default text / fonts. Don't kill me.[/size]

You can have "list" but no size or count information at the folder level.

No, this is controlled by Windows.
My foobar has this foo_plorg in one of several tabs.
When I terminate foobar after selecting another tab and excute it again,
the foo_plorg shows first.
I want to start my foobar with the same configuration when I finished.

Hi NEMO7538,
Is it possible to disable background (also scrollbar) or make it transparent? Even if I do not choose background color it still does not show my skin's background as you can see below:
The lyrics component offers me an option to make background transparent, and so it can fit in with my own skin well. Thanks.
It is not planned for the moment.
Hi.
I've just stumbled upon this and it might be my future life saver...
I've been looking for modular, platform independent playlist management for a bit now...and after BeatportPro, Rekordbox nor Rekordbuddy having proven to be viable options as of now for a few reasons, I started looking at what's available in my favourite at-home media player foobar and what kind of extension to playlist management there are available.
And foo_plorg looked perfect!
Unfortunately I could not find 2 vital features...
- I need to be able to import & export playlist data as conveniently as possible to interchange with other programs (drag & drop works [if it has to], but I would prefer multi/batch export ability as I have 100s of playlist I need to maintain & exchange between programs... :/ ). Also, .fpl export - which seems to be the default when drag&drop exporting playlist, doesn't work for me unfortunately as none of the programs I need to get the playlists into can read that... but, I did find a m3u export option, but it's buried deep in GUI pop-up-windows (right click -> Contents -> Utilities -> save as playlist -> File Save Dialogue ), so highly annoying, if one has to use this more than a few times....
Is there any way to batch export all playlists in a foo_plorg window ?
Or even better, export the whole selected hierarchy from the *selected* root node downwards ? i.e. that it replicates the foo_plorg node hierarchy with file-system folders & playlists (in user defined format, i.e. m3u in my case...) ?
- and secondly, not nearly as important as the above for me, but I would like to be able to lock playlists from any accidental edits... and it looks like that was possible ? i.e. the documentation refers to "Autoplaylist (or lock) properties" - but looks the menu has changed and that is not available anymore ? Also, not sure if that is a playlist 'lock' as I had it in mind...
If any of the above are possible, it would be much appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction.
Churs.

Hi everybody,
first thanks for the great foo_playlist_organizer. Now I have a weird problem. From one moment to another I got following error message: "Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000."
I did not change anything on my system the last few weeks. I started foobar as usual and the error message came up. Any ideas?
I reinstalled the foo_plorg.dll and also downgraded foobar (1.3.9 is relative new) to 1.3.8 and 1.3.7. The error is still there :'(
System: Win7 64-bit

If you didn't change anything, no idea....
But when this error came up previously, like mentioned a few times on the first pages of this thread, it usually was that the " Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package" requirement that wasn't met:
http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29
Good lucks.

Thanks. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package is on my machine. How I said foobar was even running as the error happend. Everthing else runs fine (audioplugins vst, etc.). No changes on my system.
Edit: Problem solved. After installing the latest (security!) update for Microsoft Visual C++ everything works fine. Just wonder why it do not happend before and occurred so suddenly while foobar was running.
@NEMO7538 Can you implement a feature like
Playlists prefixed with predefined text (ex:"lfm") to be added to specific folder (ex: LastFm)
Hi, thanks for building and sharing such an awesome plugin.
This is my current setup
(http://content.screencast.com/users/jaynyc1/folders/Jing/media/24479207-3cbf-41f4-b982-54c50f7b932e/2016-03-27_1204.png)
The floating window allows me to sort the list of playlists.... however, when I do that, the list of playlists in the panel does not update.
Are the panel and the floating window supposed to be "connected" or are they actually different?
My goal is to sort my list of playlists that appears in the panel... and I didn't see a way to Sort other than using the floating window.
Thanks for any guidance

I am probably misunderstanding, but does right-click > Sort in the 'docked' window not work for you?
Granted, it doesn't auto create 'New' folders like the floating version, but that is easily rectified by adding them yourself with fitting names.

AH! If I put playlists into a folder, then Right Click on the folder then click Sort, sorting does work.
Hm... is anyone else having undo not working in the foo_plorg window ? Or is this a known issue even ?
Just discovered this the hard way with a WIP playlist when a delete action had its focus on the playlist and not on the files inside the playlist....

Developer I would be happy if you can add a playlist switching with mouse wheel as a preference like f2k's tabs
Mouse wheel is already used to scroll the tree.
Heya,
in case you're occasionally tinkering with this component still - if you drag & drop a .m3u file into foo_plorg, the resulting playlist gets a consecutively named "New Playlist (1)" (or New Playlist (2), New Playlist (3) and so forth) name.
Would be grand if the playlist created from the drag & drop action could take on the files' name (minus .m3u extension).
Just a thought.
Cheers.

First of all thank you for the organizer, which helped me a lot organizing my music for tango-djing.
The problem I can't seem to get a grip on is as follows:
I want to migrate / mirror my entire foobar-setup to another computer (as a fallback solution / just in case)
To achieve it, I copied all of the settings to the new machine, which worked fine regarding some playlists, the entire layout etc....
But I just can't copy/migrate my playlist- folder structure as created with the organizer. No nested folders, no folders anymore, and most of the playlist names gone. Where are these informations stored? how can I copy them into another system? (WIN7 32BIT -> WIN7 64BIT)
Please help. It would be awful to loose all that work and time I put into the old structure.
kind regards, Mikel

Just discovered this the hard way with a WIP playlist when a delete action had its focus on the playlist and not on the files inside the playlist....
Heya,
out of curiousity - as I find a component crippling foobars' undo queue a tad worrying (i.e. if you delete something from innside the foo_plorg window, it not only lets you not undo the delete action, it also removes all undos from foobars global undo queue) -
am I the only one experiencing this undo issue with foo_plorg ?
or is no one using this component ?
or is no one deleting stuff ?
or does no-one care undo is broken and is affecting foobar directly...?
So many questions :D
c.
undo and redo's are local to the selected playlist and will therefore become unavailable if the playlist is deleted. This has nothing to do with foo_plorg.
Thanks for the feedback & explanation!
But, try this:
- select a playlist
- move tracks/positions around in the main playlist, as to change it
- in foo_plorg windows, delete another playlist (i.e. not the one you shuffled positions in before)
- now, try to undo. For me in this case, undo has nothing anymore. Nada. Not the delete of the unrelated playlist (I recently only found the foo_plorg restore option...), and not the track-shuffling in the 'other' playlist either
I just thought this behaviour odd, but if that's intended, fair enough.
Cheers.

I used to use a lot of quick-searches with SHIFT, it makes search in new playlist.
But my pain with such scheme is Playlist Organizer always puts new playlist to the end of root directory.
So then folder-tree of my playlists becomes extreamly long in a few weeks.
I do tidy from time to time, some searches I'm willing to return I put them to folder.
My dream is about "Autofolder" which would "catch" quick-search generated playlists by name pattern or so.
Is it hard to emplement?
Or maybe multiple playlist selection to move them as bunch?
How do I create a auto-playlist in Playlist Organizer?

Nothing of that sort is planned at the moment.
You'd better use the quicksearch history function imho.

You can't
Nevermind. Got it solved.

Thanks for this useful plugin. Please help me see, I cannot find where to change its font...
You cannot (at the moment) .... the plugin inherits the default fonts from either CUI or DUI.
Is this still how foo_plorg is supposed to work? Because it doesn't work right on my setup. For some reason it's scaling down the font set for "list items" (I assume) to like 6 point. I had a similar problem with another panel, but that one was listed as an element in the dropdown menu on the Colors and Fonts menu in Preferences (in Display->ColumnsUI->Colours and Fonts, Fonts tab), and setting it to Custom resolved the issue. But there doesn't seem to be an element listed for Playlist Organizer, so I can't fix it the same way.
ate=1347156082]
Suggestions/Aesthetic:
1-Change padding size option.
2-Change font size option.
Is there really no way to do this? It seems silly that I can easily change the font color (by RightClicking the panel and selecting Options->Custom Colors->Text) but not the size. I realize all these quotes are several years old, but http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_(foo_plorg) doesn't mention font anywhere. Unless I'm missing something, I can't do anything from the Colours and Fonts menu, and the Playlist Organizer preference menu doesn't have anything relating to fonts at all. This plugin would be super convient for me if it was possible for me to see what I was doing. Has no one designed a workaround for this?
Here's a screenshot to illustrate my issue (arrow added for emphasis):
Hiya,
I'm just setting up a new computer w win10 (64bit), and when trying foo_plorg w latest foobar 1.3.13, I get (with the odl component dll as well as a freshly downloaded foo_plorg installer/zip):
Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000.
Anyone else seeing this ? And is there a potential solution or does it require a recompile ?
Cheers.

Oh, thanks lvqcl !
Then it most likely is
" Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package may also be needed if not already present on your system"
as Column UI 0.3.8.x (Optional) I have not had on the previous (1.3.9) neither and it ran.

Thanks this is awesome.
can I apply a CUI playlist filter to all playlists in a folder?
Simple question for an old component. How do you set font size for this? The component itself seems to give no options.
Hai.
Looks like having foo_plorg window activated disables any drag and drop action other than drag and dropping an item to one of foo_plorg's playlists.
eg,
In standard foobar (with foo_plorg window/element inactive) I can drag and drop a track into windows explorer windows, other media players, audio applications etc.
With foo_plorg window/element active the only functioning drag & drop target that foobar respects is the foo_plorg window/element, but nothing else.
Is there any way to get inter-program drag and drop-ability back when using foo_plorg ?
Cheers.
c.
While looking for solutions, looks like drag&drop did work between applications with foo_plorg:
https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,80705.msg704624.html#msg704624
Could it be Windows10, where this is not working for me, is playing a part in why this stopped working ?
Cheers.

I also have a problem with the font used by Playlist Organizer. It seems to fall back to "System", even though I don't have that referenced anywhere. "Common (list items)" is Tahoma, as is "Common (labels)". The default (MS Shell Dlg) doesn't help either. The playlist view itself (and everything else) is updated, but Playlist Organizer is unaffected by this.
Note that I'm running foobar in wine on Linux.
Is there a way to modify the appearance of the dropdown arrows? They look horrid over dark backgrounds:
No.
Only standard windows appearance is supported appart from colors customization.
I think that this component has issues sometimes when the computer is low on memory(?)
I have a large number of playlist tabs, and usually the majority are in a subfolder called "Artist playlists".
I'm finding that I get a C++ error popping up at some point on my work computer (I will screenshot it next time), and then a large slab of those playlists have been moved into a folder called "New".
It's quite annoiyng to move them back, and I have to resort to default alphanumeric sorting because it happens so often now.
So, a fix would be nice (sorry I don't have a lot more info) but in the meantime I'm wondering where the hierarchy is stored? Is there a file I can backup and restore when this happens?
In regards to the previous query, I'm getting corruption of my playlist sorting/subfolders every day now.
I'd really like to know what file I could restore to get them back.

It's OK, I've fixed the specific problem I had - the lists are stored in theme.fth.
I've been swapping out two different theme files between home & work and that was corrupting the playlist organisation. I know there's a better way, but anyway it's solved for now.
If I do see the C++ error again I will screenshot it. Thanks!
I am sorry to report, but under foobar2000 version 1.3.15 this awesome component seems to be broken.
Any chance that you would be able to fix it?
Many thanks,
Goran

Hey
@go0ran, it works for me. I wonder if you're working on a new machine? Don't forget you need that C++ redistributable package.
Hey
@NEMO7538, here's what I sometimes see:
I forced foobar2000 to save its config (available when holding down shift when opening File menu) and first time I got the error again, second time seemed OK. So my Playlist Organiser window is still intact. Anyway, just FYI:

Hello everyone!
I was wondering, is there any way to use the title formatting nodes outside of the Playlist Organizer panel, such as in Panel Stack Splitter? I'd really like to show the current playlist name (%node_name%) along with number of the playlist entries (%count%) somewhere above my playlist. Is this somehow possible to achieve? Thanks for any feedback, much appreciated.
Is there any place you can receive donations.
This is by far the best tool in FB2000.
I've just some questions/requests. Forgive me if I missed these questions in my reading of the thread.
1. Any chance to get font formatting of folders and playlist?
Currently I use this to distinguish the folders from the playlists
$if(%is_folder%,'█ ',)%node_name%$if(%is_folder%,' ['%count%']',)
2. RMB and export folder and subtree to playlists. (both combined and separate playlist option)
3. RMB on selected items and send to a playlist. (Only shows non-autoplaylist ones). I currently use a legacy tools component foo_utils but it shows them greyed out.
4. I read somewhere, someone asked about CXTRL+selection of playlists. +1 for that.
Many thanks for a great plugin.
Also, a way of distinguishing between Playlists and Auto-Playlists like attached. Thanks.
Hello.
I plan to reinstall system and i want to do proper backup of my foobar customization. I assume that the tree arrangement is saved in
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\foobar2000\configuration\foo_plorg.dll.cfg
Am i wrong? And there is a little problem, last modified date is 2017-09-06. How can i trig saving process of configuration of plorg?
if you backup your full configuration there should be no specific problem with foo_plorg
hey
@NEMO7538 did you have time to look at this?
thanks for the component, man!
can I apply a CUI playlist filter to all playlists in a folder?

I'm pretty sure date of modification is a key. I already had some problems with crashing player etc. in the past. I'm using autobackup plugin to restore my playlist and componenets. After restoring, tree looked like most playlists are in their proper places, proper folders, and all, but part of them, newer ones, are all at the bottom of list, outside of any folder. I have a big number of playlist, and, on the other hand, my reinstall isn't too urgent, so i want to be prepared properly. Since you write that it should be ok, I'll make some tests, but at the moment I'm sceptical. ;)

No
The unrelated post and followup have been moved to General - (fb2k) (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?board=27.0)

it does not work with 1.3.17
Is there any way to also use a folder as a playlist? That is, have it contain playlists and, when selected, list all contained tracks? It's annoying to have a playlist and a folder to do what a folder could do on its own.
If this isn't currently possible, could it be added?

foo playlist bind - http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components_0.9/Playlist_Bind_%28foo_playlist_bind%29
Or you can create an autoplaylist with a query like this:
%path% HAS X:\Path\To\Music\Folder\
Neither of those seem to have what I want. Playlist Bind doesn't let you bind a folder and you can't put a playlist in autoplaylist. I want a folder that lists songs in the playlists it contains. iTunes does this, but I'm done using iTunes.

Greetings NEMO7538!
Great plug-in & Thanks!
One question... could you please add an option to turn OFF auto-scrolling of the playlists? Every time I have my mouse pointer above (or below) the playlist, it auto-scrolls up (or down) and this behavior is driving me nuts.
Even if Foobar doesn't even have focus, this auto-scrolling will persist and can be really irritating. I have to scroll and scroll back to where I was to select the next playlist.
A simple option to turn off auto-scrolling would be the best solution.
Thanks
yes, autoscrolling is really really annoying, please do something about it.
Thanks
I'm sorry I can't reproduce this autoscrolling bug. Can you provide more details ? thanks

Thank you for your response. Sorry for my late reply -- I was on holiday and was not able to reply.
Since your message, I have been unable to reproduce the auto-scrolling (bug?) within your plug-in. My attempts to induce it have been unsuccessful. When I have more information I will contact you as soon as possible.
Thanks again!
Hey, my Foobar2000 freezes when I try to create a new playlist with The Playlist Organizer. That happens either with the external window, as well as with the UI interface.
It does not work with 1.3.17 which is crazy because it has worked for at least half a year now but when I tried to install a theme and deinstalling it again because another plugin did not worked with that theme as well as I hoped to, this issue started to occur.
I tried to run it as administrator.
I tried to install my backup but that didn't helped.
Then I tried to install the portable version of foobar and try my configuration there ... It still froze.
After that I tried to figure out, if it was really Playlist Organizer that made my foobar freeze so I installed a fresh foobar version again, without any plugins. That worked like a charm but after I installed only Playlist Organizer to that and tried to create a new playlist, it froze again.
I tried to fix that now for 2 days but I have no idea what to do now :(
I have my old version of foobar still installed (non portable) But that shouldn't be an issue right?
Because I even installed another fresh foobar portable version on an external drive to make sure it density interfere with any of the old files.
I hope someone has another idea, because I have like 300 Playlists and I dint wanna scroll a 10 meter long list until I get to the playlist I wanna hear and O don't know any other plugin that is as practical as this one ♥
EDIT:
I found another backup on another hard drive from a PC backup I made a while ago. I deinstalled foobar completely and copied the Programsx86 Foobar folder and the Folder in the Appdata\Roaming folder so that I had my very old foobar version installed ...
It still keeps freezing o.O So I guess its because of my PC or something like that even tho I didn't really do anything except to install that theme for foobar.
I use Windows10 Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763 if that is any helpful.
I have a pretty decent PC as well so its not because of bad hardware either :(
Then I tried to install the portable version of foobar and try my configuration there ... It still froze.

Hi there,
Perhaps using this portable test install you could have a look at Task Manager and then trigger the freeze - is foobar running high CPU usage? How much disk activity? Does it unfreeze by itself after a while or is it a hard lock? Following that you could use Process Explorer as described here (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,67779.0.html), appendix A-C depending which issue. If you want to post the resulting logs, maybe a new topic in Uploads (fb2k) forum as mentioned.
Best of luck
Hey, sorry for the late respond and thanks for the quick answer!
I just was tired of looking into that after 3 days of trying to get it working again ^^
BUT I actually think that I found the Problem.
I reinstalled another fresh foobar version again and tried the same thing again. Installed my components, created some new playlists ...
After I created some playlist which worked fine at first, I deleted some others again. I deleted a playlist "Default" and a folder with the same name that I did not created myself. After I deleted that specific playlist Foobar froze.
I reopened it and tried to delete it again. And yes every time I try to delete that "Default" playlist my foobar freezes.
After I figured that out, I just renamed it to " " so I wont see it and put it all the way down from my other playlists. In that way it can stay there without bothering me.
I still dint know why that playlist causes an issue tho.
To your questions:
1. Foobar itself is not running at high CPU while it runs normal. When it freezes, It just says not responsive.
2. Sorry, I dint know how much disc activity it had unfortunately
3. It is a hard lock, it did not unfreeze after 10-15 minutes that I waited in hope.
Quick note:
I tried to recreate the issue by deleting the playlist on purpose to help you out with some of your questions but well guess what, it dint freezes anymore.
I really have noooo clue what just happened but It works now fully functional.
but really thank you for the help! ♥
Hey Thanks for this plugin :-)
I, like Mrnoname1000 , have been looking for a way to store multiple playlists in a tree style view like this plugin allows, and hopefully play everything recursively within a folder, or multiple selected playlists, without creating new specially created playlists every time.
A partial solution to this is I create a 'Now Playing' playlist and just drag any playlist withing the subfolders into it. The treestyle view makes it easy to do it since every folder can be retracted so it takes up little space. Without this plugin, I would have to scroll through pages of playlists to do something similar. Just finding a single playlist used to be a chore in itself, so I never did that. Having everything in a categorical, sortable and retractable tree hierarchy makes this fairly easy.
Does anyone know a way to export only the playlists of a folder? Drag and drop to explorer doesnt seem to work for folders, and I tried dragging a folder to another instance of foobar to use for just exporting. Drag and drop only works for individual playlists?
I have too many playlists and I'm trying to get some of them out of foobar, but when exporting all playlists it is no longer grouped or identifiable by the folder it belonged to.
This is great. However, I noticed that this UI doesn't work properly with Scheduler UI. When scheduled to play the next playlist, the reordering of the existing playlists in this UI is not reflected in the scheduler. This problem doesn't happen when using the Playlist Manager instead of Playlist Organizer.
Let's say I have three playlists A, B and C which I created them in the same order (A then B and finally C). Regardless of how I sort them in the Playlist Organizer, Scheduler will play them back in the order of creation (A->B->C). But if I change their order in the Playlist Manager, they will be played in the sorted manner I defined.
A fix would be a great addition.
When I select a playlist, then select the folder containing that playlist (or maybe any folder. I only have one), the text colour for that playlist is highlighted as though it's active, even when it's not. Selecting different playlists in succession doesn't leave the previous playlists highlighted as active, it's only when selecting a playlist, then a folder.
For me, aside from the above gremlin, the active playlist text highlighting appears not to work. A rectangle of the appropriate color is placed around the active playlist, but the text itself doesn't change color. I'm pretty new to Playlist Organizer so until now I assumed it's supposed to work that way, but maybe not?
fb2k 1.5 beta 16 on XP.
Cheers.
I think I was misunderstanding how the active playlist text highlighting is supposed to work, and it makes sense now I get it. Please ignore my post above.

It's already in the to do list (http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29#To_Do) (3rd item) but don't expect anything soon. Sorry !
I am getting an error with the playlist manager (I think).
Foobar begins well and then after playing some media, this happens:
Please see the below screenshot
(https://i.imgur.com/haZdJ8rm.jpg)
While it doesn't effect playback (if I don't want to change to a new playlist), I am unable to fix this unless I shutdown Foobar.
And more often than not when I do shutdown, Foobar crashes
When I reopen the program would then ask if I wanted to open in safe mode
Any ideas what would be causing this?
Hi
@NEMO7538 thanks for creating this playlist organizer it is really very useful.
I have recently re-installed Windows. Luckily I have the original boot drive with my previous Foobar instal.
When I install Foobar on my new system and copy over the components / playlists and theme I was using I get an error message when Foobar starts up.
"Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000."
I must be missing some of the required files. Where can I find them ?
THanks
After installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Community the error message is gone .. :) !
Would you like to point out the exact Visual package, that you have installed?
I recently upgraded my PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Then the previously successfully used portable foobar installation (from a portable device) showed the error message as mentioned earlier.
Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll

foobar portable 1.5.0, updated to 1.5.1
I have installed microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64) - 14.24.28127. However, the error message is still there, playlist organizer is not running.
Any suggestions?

Yes, foobar2000 is 32bit, so it needs to be x86.

Hi
@NEMO7538 , thanks for your component :) Here's my point :
Playlist Organizer hasn't been updated since 2015. Actually, not a single playlist management component has been been updated since 2015, and that's a lot of time : https://www.foobar2000.org/components/tag/playlist+management
Of course Playlist Organizer works pretty well, so it doesn't really need an update. However, maybe I could suggest a small improvement.
I have lots of autoplaylists, like dozens of them. Folders are really helpful to organize them, but what would be even more helpful would be being able to
assign a custom color (text and/or background) to any playlist or folder.
I'm not talking about the existing "custom color" feature, since it doesn't allow to set custom colors on a per-playlist or per-folder basis.
I hope you can consider this. Thanks in advance!
I think the ux expand/collapse chevron glyphs should be the same color as the font. They're virtually unnoticeable with a dark background. See pic below.

It is controlled by your Windows color scheme IIRC.
Sorry for that but don't expect any change in the near future.

Ok, because I am just using the default Windows 10 color scheme, with a dark background via DUI colors and fonts. What about considering a change to the type of disclosure widgets to Plus and minus controls (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/uxguide/ctrl-progressive-disclosure-controls) so they can be seen with both dark and white DUI background colors.
EDIT: Nevermind. Just looked at Plus/minus controls with a dark background and it looks like crap.
I very much like and use this plugin - to my knowledge the only way to structure a larger amount of playlists within foobar.
However, found some quite strange behaviour of this plugin: two fairly independent versions of the foo_plorg playlist structure seem to live within one foobar instance at the same time. The first one can be accessed by embedding the foo_plorg panel into the layout, the other one is found by opening the plugin in a separate window via the menu (View/Playlist Organizer). This is in my case consistent over different layout presets in CUI.
I started to structure my playlists in a separate window, then tried to switch over to an embedded panel, found the 'messed' structure, re-structured in the embedded panel, and now found a 'messed' structure in the separate window version (which I open in PSS via $imagebutton). Within my skin I would like to use both ways - depending on the respective layout preset.
This could as well be the underlying reason for posts like here (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?topic=80705.msg799191#msg799191).
Is there anything I missed here? Can anybody reproduce this behaviour?
foobar 1.5.3, CUI 1.4.1, foo_plorg 2.6
Hmmm, nobody....
Maybe someone
- who has foo_plorg embedded in his skin (e.g. within a CUI layout by Preferences/Display/Columns UI/Layout: Insert Panel/Panels/Playlist Organizer)
- can spend 2 Minutes of his time
- open a second (separate) Playlist Organizer Panel via View/Playlist Organizer
- compare the two Playlist Organizer Panels (one embedded, one separate)
- check if he finds an identical structure (same folder structure, playlists are found in the same folder)
- gives a short feedback here if 'yes' (=identical) or 'no' (not identical)
This would help me to identify if the problem is on my side or not.
Thanks in advance !!
Attached are snips of the embedded and separate Playlist Organizer appearences (within one foobar skin, unfortunately not identical). A lot of the playlists (actually: 70!) found in the embedded case in the structure as set up from me are enclosed in the separate case in 'New Folder [70]'.
I recently upgraded my PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Then the previously successfully used portable foobar installation (from a portable device) showed the error message:
Code: [Select]

How can I solve this problem?
^ @kpr812 - probably needs Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 as stated under requirements (http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Playlist_Organizer_%28foo_plorg%29).

Yeah, that happens to me too. Its not a problem on your side.

Thank you very much McArty for your reply and clarification!!
As I guess that the different folder structur at embedded vs separate window is a topic originating from the plugin itself - does anybody know if there is someone still developing/bugfixing this component? (Unfortunately I do not have the developer capabilities...)
Thank You anamorphic

I believe this is a bug that's specific to Linux users running Foobar2000 with Wine. (Such as me and many others.)
The best way to solve it would be to simply add an option to turn autoscrolling off.

I have this problem on two Windows 10 computers (latest updates applied), one with dual screens, the other single screen. Please take another look, it's really annoying. I'm sure it didn't do this when I installed it back in 2015. Maybe it's a Windows design change but if it also appears on Linux?
It seems to be responding to Windows cursor position messages when the component doesn't have focus and even when the mouse is outwith the foobar2000 screen. IMHO this is definitely undesirable behaviour.
TIA

Me too, I have this behavior on both a recently installed W10Pro and W10Education. I believe it started after a Foobar update a couple of years ago (1.3?) - the one that fixed the playlist crash error and made the old playlists incompatible with the new ones (I think). I use the same config folder on both systems so the problem might be somewhere within. I'm confident that if someone just used my config folder they can reproduce this issue reliably on W10 and latest FB2k.
Is there a way for me to keep my 100+ playlists but reset them as if it's added from a clean install? I think that could help given that the dev can't reproduce it
Can you release source code please?
I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package as required, even though I already had 2013 and 2015-2019 Redistributables installed. Still didn't work. Then I realized I had installed the x64 version of the 2010 out of habit, but fb2k is x86. It worked on my fb2k v1.6.6 after I installed the x86.

It's so nice having folders! I have so many playlists to organize now.
I wish it was a preference option to not have the folder open up when I drop a playlist into it. As my folders get larger, it's harder to scroll down to where I need to organize the next thing when the big folder keeps opening back up.
Thanks for this.
Just one minor bug.
If I select a playlist and use the keyboard shortcut Shift+F10 then the right-click context menu should appear but this is not the case.
Why does the Shift+F10 menu differ from the right-click menu? by Raymond Chen

minor graphical bug here:
when you start playback in one playlist and then put something in another playlist in queue, the "playing" indicator in the plorg view doesn't switch to the new playlist once the song starts playing
How do I keep the playlists of two installs synchronized? Synchronizing the playlists-v1.4 does not do it. Both installs are identical except in some UI dimensions.
When adding tracks to the playlist it would be nice not to add the same track therefore not allowing duplicates.
If this was an option in the preferences this would be great.

Would want to report a bug (which I have been having for years without being able to track the culprit). There has been no updates since 2015 so it should be marked as not safe to use at the plugins page, unless it is fixed...
If there is a single panel with Playlist Organizer loaded and you close all playlists loaded within foobar, as soon as you try to create a new playlist in any way (File\new playlist, sending tracks to new playlist, etc.) foobar gets blocked indefinitely. The plugin clearly gets broken as soon as there is no playlist at some point. There is no crash (and no log that points to the culprit), it simply keeps processing indefinitely.
Steps:
- Ensure there is at least one active playlist.
- Put Playlist Organizer in the layout OR open it in a new window (view/playlist organizer) and keep it opened.
- Close all playlists (ctrl + w). It will close active playlist, repeat until there is none.
- Try to create a new playlist via menus or double clicking on the library items, etc.
- Profit.
There is no way workaround to it unless the plugin is removed from a panel after restarting foobar and then creating a new playlist.
- Force foobar closing.
- Remove Playlist organized from layout. If it was loaded in its own window, then ensure it's closed.
- There is no active playlist and no playlist loaded at this point.
- Create a new playlist (now it should work).
- Playlist organizer can the be used as usual, but never close the last playlist.
Tested it with clean install, both with CUI and DUI layouts and no other variables.

I think that could help given that the dev can't reproduce it
Yeah, I have been having the same issue for quite some while now. First on Windows 10, now Windows 11.
Has anybody managed to fix it?
UPDATE! FIXED! - I copied the contents of my playlists folder somewhere else, emptied it, and tested whether the problem was still reproducable after creating a row of fresh new playlists. It wasn't. Then I emptied it again and copied back the original playlists. The problem still could't be reproduced. Result!
The only downside is that the playlists are not in their Playlist Organiser folders anymore. The folders still exist though, so I can just put all of them back. A bit of a hassle, but manageable.
ANOTHER UPDATE:
The issue has returned... :'(
Would want to report a bug (which I have been having for years without being able to track the culprit).
Reminder that the plugin is still being shown as safe to use by the troubleshooter...
Now that Columns UI has a Dark Mode, I'll ask the inevitable question, as I suppose somebody has to! Any chance of making the light scrollbar go away? :)
It would seem that plorg has not been updated in some years. Hopefully this would be a small reason for it to enjoy an update. I find this component extremely useful.
As far as I can tell, this component won't be seeing any more updates. So, is there anything that has been updated for fb2k 2.0 / 64-bit (or has a high chance of being updated) that replicates the functionality of this component? This one is absolutely essential for me.
I'm thinking about a port to 2.0 / 64 bits ... when I have time and courage.
Thanks for your patience.

Amazing news. Thanks
I have been using this amazing component for a couple years now and I recently downloaded the x86 version 2 beta 12 addition of Foobar2000 and unfortunately I can't get it to work.
Failed to load DLL: foo_plorg.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000.
Any idea how to make it work?
Thanks
You probably need this...

You saved me bro :) thank you so much
I've managed to get foo_plorg in an inconsistent state that caused it to crash whenever I tried to modify my playlists.
I believe the cause was that I didn't pay attention once when updating the foobar2000 beta, and picked the x64 version instead of the x32 one; then I launched it and something broke the state stored in the DUI view containing foo_plorg. Now when I launch it again, the tree has become entirely flat (losing the structure that held 166 playlists organized). I try to structure it again, but the plugin often crashes when I try to rename a playlist or a folder and when I relaunch it I go back to a flat structure.
I've lost trust that the plugin wouldn't wipe any changes and went back to a much earlier backup.
My request would be to keep the tree state exportable and importable. Make it as easy as possible to back up, and restore, separate from the rest of the playlist and view state. Make it possible to edit the exported state, a text editor is much more convenient than drag and dropping playlists individually (with the risk of dropping a playlist inside another, drag and drop is just too fiddly).
I don't know where the plugin state is stored when a foo_plorg view is visible. I took note of the trick given by NEMO7538 in https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,80705.msg706361.html#msg706361, of removing the last view element while the plugin is running so that the plugin puts it in foo_plorg.dll.cfg. This provides a partial text view, but because it's embedded in a binary structure I doubt I'd be able to edit it and still have it load.
Somehow, even the restored backup (from foobar 1.6.14) still gets crashes in foobar 2.0 beta 20.
When I try to create a new playlist from foo_plorg, foo_plorg crashes without a message in the console.
Then, once I restart foobar2000, the console shows:
Watching: D:\DJ
Playlist Organizer: Unmatched number of playlists while reading configuration
Playlist Organizer: Reinitializing Treeview
Playlist #0 loaded in 0:00.000542
Album List refreshed in: 0:00.000358
Playlist #90 loaded in 0:00.000131
Playlist #91 loaded in 0:00.000157
…
And the treeview is flat. Completely reproducible. I have to stop using foo_plorg.

This plugin has been reported multiple times to be non-safe since a lot of time. It's not only an incompatibility with V2.
It should have been already flagged as problematic on the crash reported and the components page.
@NEMO7538 mentioned he's considering updating this plugin. If he decides against it I hope he considers open sourcing it so someone else can takeover development of this wonderful plugin. 🤞

This plugin was very useful and was a kind of heart of my foobar configuration over many years. Now, it doesn't work any more. Hopefully NEMO will continue this plugin! :-*

This plugin's behavior is janky with foobar2000 v2 beta 24, which I guess it not unexpected?
1. Deleting playlists doesn't seem to work as expected -- at least on my mine it keeps the playlist but all the tracks get removed
2. If you happen to reorder your playlists using the official playlist manager you will notice it moves all your PLORG playlists out of your PLORG folder structure and into a folder titled "New" (you may need to restart your foobar2000 instance to notice).
3. There are some other quirky unexpected behaviors, but I hadn't bothered to log them when they occurred.
I'm not sure if an update to this plugin is still being considered, but I'm crossing my fingers.
If this plugin does get updated I have three feature requests/suggestions:
1. Auto-collapse nodes setting. Implement a toggle setting to auto-collapse all nodes but the active expanded node. So with this setting enabled, whenever a user expands a node, any other expanded nodes will collapse. This would be a useful optional feature for users with a high amount of playlist folders
2. Lock node state. The ability to right click a node and lock or pin its state. This would pin the expanded state of the node preventing it from being auto-collapsed. Say you auto-collapse nodes enable, but you have one or two nodes that you always want expanded. Well this feature would enable that functionality.
3. %count_tracks%. Where the %count% variable contains the amount of items in a node (including folders), the %count_tracks% variable would report only the amount of tracks within a node excluding folders.
Is there an alternative to this outdated component? Looking for something that lets me 'group' or nest playlists within a node and is compatible with Default User Interface (DUI) and the new v2 fb2k
Not that I have found. :(
Although aside from a conspicuous grey scrollbar in my preferred dark mode, this component still works well for me as of foobar2000 2.0 32bit beta 26, though granted I use Columns UI. The only small issue I've noticed currently is an interaction between it and the quicksearch toolbar, where queries are generating new empty groups that must be deleted manually.
Adding my voice to the chorus of those who enjoy this component. I have a lot of playlists and I would be pretty lost without it, it's a staple of my experience with this player.

Alternative based on Jscript panel 3.
This component is extremely broken in F2k 2.0. It wasn't the greatest idea to use the theme file to store the folder structure.
Deleting any playlist now messes up the entire thing.
No way! What at a surprise!
Maybe you didn't see the warnings about the component being totally broken on the wiki, the components page, etc.
Oh wait... you can't see those warnings since they are non existent xd
Just being ironic, this whole situation with known broken and incompatible components makes zero sense.
Does acting like this give you pleasure?
Fyi I have been using this component without any major issues until 2.0
There's a lot of discussion on the previous page about how broken it is, and
@regor can be seen there repeatedly complaining that it hasn't been marked as broken despite numerous reports to that effect.
@etip's JScript Panel 3 version takes a bit of learning but is a great alternative - see his post above.

Thank you for editing the Japanese wiki the other day.

As someone has explained, I was just being ironic about this non-sense situation where a component being reported to be broken during a full year has been not been flagged as such yet. My comment was not towards you, but the situation (and the whole component ecosystem philosophy),
It's the developers responsibility to handle this, but here we have a few reports per week about a broken component which is not maintained since years. There is crash reporter flagging some components as broken and this one has been omitted for some unknown reason. I simply don't understand if this is just laziness or what; but there have been a dozen of reports by other people and me about this.
I mean, it would be less ironic if the first post at the 3rd party plugins sub-forum was not this one: ::)
Please do not recommend broken components (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,30719.0.html)
Having a broken component on the official components list without a warning seems to me a recommendation to use it.
Thank you for editing the Japanese wiki the other day.
Took me some time to figure how it worked!

Oh, apologies, I often have trouble understanding tone.
Since I came across your Spider Monkey script (Playlist Manager) during my search for alternatives, I was wondering if it would make sense to also have it monitor subfolders of the playlist folder and display them in foo_plorg tree-view fashion. I know categories are meant to allow for a similar functionality, but perhaps having it tied to actual folders on the filesystem would be more intuitive.
JScript Panel 3 scripts are not an alternative for people using Wine, unfortunately. I briefly tried making the Playlist Organizer script work on Spider Monkey Panel, but I couldn't find the equivalents for all functions.

The problem with using physical subfolders (although I will think about it!) would be what happens with the backup subfolder.
I have already tried adding folders, but virtual ones added by tags within the playlist file. It' was a bit too complex to debug, once I allowed unlimited levels... but it's a possibility on the future.
Note contrary to the JS script, mine supports both UI and physical files and has complex filters and search functionality... so the list is not hardcoded by a tree; it changes dynamically according to all those filters and files. It's less trivial to create folders (since those filters also affect subitems shown), and considering I have actions which can be applied on batch to multiple selected playlists the complexity scales so fast.
Both managers are not comparable at all, and have clearly different aims. I plan to create a new mode to simplify it's usage, removing features not needed for users who only want a playlist tree to switch UI playlists.
I could consider automatically creating categories by subfolders though (without adding a folders feature in the manager). That could be easier. But please, lets continue these topics on the script threads if needed.
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a way to import these playlists from this component to Playlist-Manager-SMP (https://github.com/regorxxx/Playlist-Manager-SMP)?
I've asked the dev over on the GitHub link but says they're not supported and to ask on this thread.
The playlists all got brought in but they're locked and autoplaylists are not so much auto anymore.
@stevehero I think you have a misunderstanding about how playlists work and mixing multiple concepts.
As I told u the playlists are NOT from the component. They are in your standard foobar installation. foo_plorg is just a simple organizer.
All autoplaylists are locked by Foobar by default.
You are asking to unlock native Autoplaylists which is simply not possible on foobar. Also what I suppose you want to do is copying the query from Autoplaylists into my manager (to then create a copy of the autoplaylist on demand); and that can only be done manually one by one. Is a limitation of foobar. I support the sample manager by Marc, since that one also allowed to save the queries in JSON. Native foobar can't do that. And foo_plorg DOES NOT create playlists nor can export any data, is just an organizer.
.
The status bar will clearly show the playlist is locked by foobar itself on any Autoplaylist.
My manager will also report the same for such playlist, and since the file was created by native foobar, for all purposes, that's just an UI playlist (and all options are grayed out).
If you want to edit it. Copy the query into a new Auto-playlist using the manager. Then delete the UI playlist. One by one.
You may use the entry "new Autoplaylist from active..." to speedup the process, since it will open the window with the query.
And no, there is no way to automate it. No, this has nothing to do with foo_plorg. This is how foobar works, and that's why I created my manager, since it makes zero sense how foobar manages (auto)playlists as persistent items on UI.
The existing playlist queries need to be stored somewhere?
It would be handy if they were in a json file to help recreate them that way.

xd that's what my manager does (but obviously you have to do the transition by yourself first).
Have told you the same 10 times here and on github, the queries are not stored by foo_plorg. And they are not available on json nor plain text files by foobar. They are fpl playlists, like any UI playlist.
Really, I don't understand your doubts at this point. You are just trying to find a alternate way to do it automatically where there is none. If you don't wanna copy/paste manually, ok. But don't keep asking everywhere how to do it since there is only one way to do it right now.
I mean.. if someone wants to decode FPL playlists to extract the queries on batch, then you have another way. Neither SMP nor JSP can access the query of an Autoplaylist, and as far as I have been told the SDK does not expose it. It may change on the future. But then direct your request to Peter or marc or theQwertiest, this has nothing to do with foo_plorg.
But don't keep asking everywhere how to do it since there is only one way to do it right now.
Excuse me! You asked me to ask on this thread. Don't make me out to be one of those. Forget I ever mentioned it.

Excuse me! You asked me to ask on this thread. Don't make me out to be one of those. Forget I ever mentioned it.
That was in case you had problems with playlists locked by some component (which was your first complain)... don't get me wrong. I mean, you have been trying to find another way to do this, since days, when there is none xd I have told you the same multiple times, but I get there may have been some confusion.
Copy every query or just live with it (do you really need 300 autoplaylists?) and create new ones directly on the manager. Or just wait for an improbable update of foobar.
I have tried to see if I could write a script to convert the old one but the
playlist-D35BDBDD-1CA9-4931-86E8-C52FDD92C64A-props.sqlite files cannot be read for any meaningful info as far as I could see.
So, for anyone wanting to convert their playlists from this to SMP PM (https://regorxxx.github.io/foobar2000-SMP.github.io/scripts/playlist-manager-smp/). Then there's a less painful way than adding each one.
To do it, edit the
profile\js_data\playlistManager_playlist_manager.json file in something like sublime text or VSCode where you can highlight similar blocks of text and then edit multiple selections at a time.
Change the following strings or booleans for
"extension": ".ui", = > "extension": "", NOTE: ALWAYS SHOULD BE ""
"isLocked": true, = > "isLocked": false, NOTE: ALWAYS CHANGE TO false
"isAutoPlaylist": false, = > "isAutoPlaylist": true, NOTE: CHANGE THIS TO WHATEVER THE OLD ONE WAS
"query": "", = > "query": "", NOTE: DEPENDING ON ABOVE ADD A QUERY OR LEAVE FOR NORMAL PLAYLISTS
"author": "Foobar2000", = > "author": "Playlist-Manager-SMP", NOTE: ALWAYS CHANGE TO Playlist-Manager-SMP
At least this way you can edit the query manually if necessary.
Check your JSON file here first before restarting FB. https://jsonlint.com/ then open foobar2000. The playlists should now be part of SMP PM and not locked. You will have to do some editing in that but at least they'll be populated in there.

You have a Jscript version for v2 64 bits and a SMP version for 32 bits.
Im gonna come across really stupid here but could someone explain in simple terms how to install this?
Been trying to do so and trying to find it in this post but nothing I try is working!
Thanks heaps.

Oh excuse me I did not realize it was broken, I saw someone mention this plugin a week ago in another thread and said it was great haha.
MOD edit: fix quote
It probably was a mention about the JS version which is supposed to be a clone for foobar v2.

If you take a look at this thread, it's pretty clear the component is broken since years.
