preserve date of original recording

Is it possible to preserve date the of  an original recording made on say a mobile recorder and have it show in foobar?
I use Columns UI

I can't help you much with the foobar part (have a look at this 3-year old thread). In general the file creation dates (+time) are very handy for sorting files. It's not 100% robust though since they can get modified. For professional recordings like sound-for-picture it's safer to either record a timecode signal or timecode stamp with it (requires special recorders) or announce the date and other important info in one of the microphones at the start or end of the recording.
