Is "Press" or "Pressing" correct in this context?

I know this may sound silly but I would like to know which one of these two sound correct? English is my second language.

I would say "pressing". But English is not my native language too  :-\

But deepl also translates the German "Pressung" to "pressing"

Good question! I've seen both used where I would have inclined the other way, so you can probably take your pick on that! ;)

The 'Comment' name would work too.

Comment tag, you mean?

For anything that goes into file and folder name, I'd shorten down things like that. "Jap. press" looks good. Maybe even omit the "."

It's difficult to tell from the limited context provided.  "Japan" is a proper noun, "Japanese" is an adjective.  Something which comes from Japan is Japanese.

A "pressing" is something which results from being "pressed" using a "press", but "press" is also a noun describing the publishing industry in general.

If you want to describe a CD which has been produced in Japan, I suggest "Japanese pressing" is correct.

It's your privilege to disagree, but that doesn't make you right and me wrong.

Most typically, it does effectively refer to a CD that has been released in Japan by a Japanese publisher or Japanese branch. Often it is also produced in Japan, but not necessarily.

Among those who are carefully identifying different editions you see details like "USA for Japan" or sometimes even "NL/Japan for Europe", like one JWH pressing mentioned here that had the booklet printed in NL, but the discs themselves were from a Japan-pressed batch.

I was talking about correct English grammar, but there is no accounting for what may have become standardised jargon within any particular specialised field of interest.
