You reported the flickering with transparency so I solved it by removing the transparency. Without your report, I would have been oblivious to it.  Thanks.

The legacy versions will continue to support the transparency hack. You're using PSS from 2009. JSP 2.8.8 is from August 2022, JSP 3.3.40 is just over 3 weeks old. If you have a problem with that, contact your bank for a refund.

I read the release notes, but I don't understand:
Transparency is now reserved exclusively for genuine Columns UI toolbars. Adding as a toolbar via the Columns UI Layout settings will have no effect and it will be a normal panel with a solid color background.

Please explain how I can restore transparency for the JS3 stuff or propagate 3.4.5 like 3.3.40 2.8.8 as a legacy release.

Does this mean that effectively JS3 from version 3.4.6 onwards does not support transparency anymore?

1) Is there a plman.ReplayGain (like plman.PlaybackOrder) variable available to reflect current state of replaygain?
2) Is a function on_replaygain_changed(new_index) available (like on_playback_order_changed(new_index))?

plman is Playlist Manager so it won't be there. A good place to look would be fb since it's related to fb2k core settings.

fb.ReplaygainMode is a readable and writable property

Why do I even bother writing documentation? :/

Even starting a search with on_repl would have found it...

I have been trying to do searches in this forum many many times, but searches always come up empty.
I bookmarked the three links you included.

Thank you. With your help I was able to implement the intended button.
Listening Tests / Re: Great killer sample, easy to ABX on most codecs
Last post by shadowking -
I would have thought the key thing here is to ABX one codec with another codec.  It does not seem remarkable that a listener can 100% spot the compressed version when compared with the uncompressed original!

That can be done too. However, There's distinct differences between errors -  mp3 adds smeared clicks and wavpack hiss/noise..
It will be very easy to tell apart. Key is which can sound most neutral or even transparent and at acceptable bitrates.
General - (fb2k) / Re: HDCD Alterative?
Last post by Defender -
Are you people certain you need to bother with HDCD? In my opinion that tech has always been dead. For example that Van Halen album shown in Defender's screenshot doesn't seem to use any HDCD features:,61731.msg551062.html#msg551062. If that's the case, it will just be quieter when decoded with HDCD component, or with the volume boost enabled it will be identical to non-decoded one.

This Van Halen HDCD only has transient filter upon playing. I'm not listening to it.
I stick to the Rhino 2015 HD remasters.

That's weird. Even if you didn't install the font as mentioned in the previous post, the display is just borked on certain icons that make up the layout. No errors should be thrown.

Hold Shift+Winkey together and right click the panel>Configure. Add this code.

Code: [Select]
String.prototype.calc_width = function (font_str) {
console.log("DEBUG", font_str);
var font = JSON.parse(font_str);
return utils.CalcTextWidth(this, font.Name, font.Size, font.Weight || 400);

You should get the same error but with a console DEBUG message before it. I'd like to see that please.

edit: the shift+winkey bit isn't necessary when the script has errored. It's only required when JSPlaylist is "working". :P

DEBUG {"Name":"FontAwesome","Size":0,"Weight":400}

WavPack / Re: WavPack 5.6.4 Has Multithreading Option
Last post by Kraeved -
Dear @bryant, our community has found a techno sample that puts Wavpack Hybrid and many other lossy codecs to shame. It seemed to me that I finally found an acceptable, easily memorable setting for a vintage computer, namely -b4x or even -b4x3, which scales well with CD audio and Hi-Res, so you do not need to change the bitrate yourself when input switches from 44 kHz 16 bit to, for example, 48 kHz 24 bit, but now I feel lost. One of the prominent users, @shadowking, suggests using -s 0.5 to make all that noisy sand at the beginning of the file less audible, but perhaps you can suggest something else that will bring back the joy of audio encoding?
Scientific Discussion / Re: Weird silence shown in Audition between two gapless FLAC tracks
Last post by btescm -
After I removed from Audition settings the smoothing options, I checked other releases and they have normal concatenation. It's only new Meteora that I know of has this pause between tracks. I don't think that it's some special Audition handling for these files only.

>dedicated gapless playback software
to check by simply listening? I don't think such a tiny gap is noticeable by human ear
