Is there any audio comparator which does “hierarchical” comparisons like e.g.
- bit-identical? If not:
- bit-identical modulo offset? If not:
- has bit-identical overlapping parts (not reporting digital silence parts), i.e. “bit-identical modulo offset and length”? If not:
- difference in a suitable metric after best possible offset alignment (for example: compare file X in 16-bit with file Y in 15-bit LossyWAVed, utility aligns up and says X has 14 samples more at the beginning, Y has 99 samples more at the end, otherwise LSB differences etc.)
- tells me that these are likely different masterings from the same recording (“it is likely that X is essentially a brickwalled Y”)
?
