I was using cdparanoia (Linux), but now I only use EAC because of its secure mode.

But if you're using the AccurateRip database, it doesn't matter too much since you can tell if the rip was OK or not without needing EAC's paranoid verification routines. But if a rip is not in the database, or AccurateRip says the rip is bad, EAC saves the day. You need to set up your drive correctly though

EAC for ripping. Foobar2000, OmniEncoder for transcoding, depending on my mood
