Noise Cancelling headset s...

I've read a review in c't magazine about the Sennheiser PXC 250. They said that it really works, wind noise when you're driving on your bike etc. are drastically reduced. As a side-effect, the frequency response in the bass region gets more linear. It can also be used without music, for instance in a noisy office. The price is a bit high though, 150 €. I can't say anything about the Bose headphones.

yup...


is it worth it... [span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%']?[/span]
well..

headset's is nothing more than
portable speakers.

in basic.. this development.. has grownd
in 40. years...

you know what...:

1. get some industry headset.. (large)

2. treaten the inside of the cups.. with silicon..
(rough layer.. maybe some cotton to..))

3. mount some 4. inch.. fulltone car elements
in them. (tweak them.. by removing 1/3. of the kewlar
suspension.. not nesessery..))

4. drill a 5mm. hole on the lower outside.

5. use a 2x2.5 tinnplated copper cable..

6. get your wife/girlfriend.. to make the ear-muffers..

finito.. perhaps not so friendly.. designwise..
but sounds great..

Unbelievable gear if you're on an aircraft.

Not sure about everyday use though.

Don't forget that "real" noise-cancelling headsets actually contain active electronics. From what I gather, small condensor mics pick up ambient nosie from about 100Hz-3Khz or so (varies by model), and then mix the out-of-phase noise with the musical signal, which cancels out some of the noise from outside the headphone. Pretty clever, and they work quite well. Even Wal*Mart has a cheap Panasonic model for around $40 now, which is no doubt good news for airplane travellers or those with whiny spouses  Would I use them for everyday listening? Probably not.
