I have everything here (TV/PC monitor, turntable, bluray player, PC, VU Meter, speakers, and headphones) connected together with an RME ADI Pro 2/4 SE, it acts like a "hub". Seamless switching and auto-switching (if desired) between sources and destinations, very high sound quality etc. Having said that, for the TV/PC monitor I'm not using HDMI but just the optical digital audio outs to connect to the RME.

@Terence
You have given me something to think about. I don't know that I'd be able to pull off with my preferred "letter" style buttons what you have done, but still something to think about.

Going on your, "I made my own icons, adding a white stripe on the outside..." I looked up adding borders to letters, and that way might have promise.

You and @marc2k3, Thanks for the posts and ideas.

Yeah, if you do not intend to use WMP, don't ever start it.

SMPlayer?

What about changing between Exclusive and not in Preferences -> Output?

I'm new to hi-res audio,
and downloaded some albums in hi-res, such as SACD, Flac 24/96, DTS 5.1 and others,
and I use the PC with Windows 11 plugged into a Samsung TV via HDMI cable,
and I would like to know the correct configuration of Windows and Foobar2000 to listen to these hi-res files in the best possible quality on the TV.
(I know that the TV will not take advantage of the full potential of the hi-res files, but I would like to leave it in the best quality that the TV can reproduce.)

I was very confused about choosing the correct bitrate and samplerate.
Windows default is DVD Quality 16bit 48khz,
but the dropdown allows me to select up to 24bit 48khz, which I wonder if that would be the best option to choose.
(I'm changing this in Configuration>System>Sound)
by the way, the driver/device properties also inform you that the maximum it does is 48khz and 24bits.

In the Foobar2000 options come more questions,
I downloaded the SACD Plugin, and I also don't know what bitrate to put there,
the default is 44.1khz, and I wonder if 48khz would be the best option to choose, because it seems to be the maximum the TV can do.
and I also don't know if somewhere else in Foobar2000 I should set the right bitrate/bits too.

I also don't know which output driver to use in foobar2000, whether the "Primary Sound Driver" or directly select the "Samsung (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)" which is the TV driver.

the confusion increased when reading things like "use ASIO or WASAPI for best audio",
but I have the impression that this does not apply to connecting to the TV, and is only for external decoders.

One last piece of information is that I use this PC+TV to play video games too, so it needs to be a configuration that doesn't ruin that experience either.

i wouldn't dare risk starting WMP on my computer. It is practically a virus in how it can affect one's files, artwork metadata, etc. I don't have flash player.

A quick note for anyone who accidentally saved their lyric files as UTF-8-BOM.  In the lyric save settings page there is a check box for encoding saved files as "+BOM".  Can't remember if it was set that way as default, but the lyrics I saved that way were not showing properly in my Plex media player.  The first lyric line was being omitted.

Once I realized what the issue was, I removed that checkbox and am now using this tool to ID the lyrics with UTF-8-BOM encoding, changing them to UTF-8 encoding.  By doing that the first line now shows.

Here is the mass ID and change program: https://github.com/amrali-eg/EncodingChecker

FYI: Lyrics showed fine in Foobar encoded as UTF-8-BOM.  I assume this is the reason why LSP3 creates a blank like at the top of the lyrics file.

I use DSP Effect's Tempo Shift ability a lot.

With the SoundTouch algorithm I get a sound that has a bit of reverb in it. Is there a setting I can change to cause the slowed down audio to sound cleaner? Or am I just hearing things?

Attaching some audio files recorded when using DSP Effect version 0.47 and one file from version 0.51.

The Rubber Band audio clip is included for the purpose of comparison.

The Rubber Band and SoundTouch clips are playing at: Tempo -65.88 %
